Cerezette & HRT
« on: June 26, 2020, 09:59:44 AM »

Good Morning everyone,
I have just joined the forum after researching Menopause related topics and Dr Louise Newson following advice from my GP to investigate my options.  I am 48yrs old and for the last 2yrs I have been having multiple menopause symptoms that finally I am at the end of my tether with it  :(

Can anyone tell me what is the best option for HRT that works alongside Cerezette pill (I take this for uncontrolled bleeding post childbirth so I have not had periods in the last 8yrs)?  Cerezette is mainly progesterone and I struggle with high dose oestrogen based pills as they make me extremly nauseous.

My GP has suggested I ask for specialist advice from specialist Dr's so she knows the best option to prescribe.  My GCS score is 44.

Thank you & I look forward to chatting with you.
Fiona  :)

Welcome to the forum.  Sorry you didn't get any responses.  Unfortunately I can't help out but hopefully one of the very knowledgeable ladies will be along.  Did you try putting cerezette in search engine?

Hi Fiona stressed!

Try not to stress!

 :welcomemm:

You'll be better now you've found us!

Cerazette alone does not contain sufficient progestogen to protect the uterus if you are also taking hRT.

You can either take one of the lower oestrogen doses contracptive pills which contain the same oestrogen as hRT (called QLAIRA and one called ZOELY) which are much gentler than the high dose COP types containing synthetic oestrogens, or you could go for the Mirena coil which provides contracption and protects the womb lining from growing too thickif you take oestrogen too. It ia allso prescribed to limit heavy bleeding. Then you could add in oestrogen at whatever dose you needed to control symptoms (patches, pills or gel).

This does not really need specialist advice as all the inforamtion is freely available on the web and on this site and the doc or at least one of them in the practice, should be able to advise on basic HRT!

Sorry I don't know what GCS is

Hope this helps :)

Hi.  I am in the same situation as you.  I'm also 48.  I was advised to have the mirena coil for contraception and the progesterone element of hrt.  Then an oestrogen patch.  I was on pop only pill prior to this. X
