Bees are rare so we don't do any pointing.  The house was built in 1968 so has a few holes in the grout which aren't a problem the surrounding cement is firm to touch.  The chimney gets pointed so that it doesn't get blown off the roof  ;D

No bees need exterminating  :o unless they R a danger to passers by.  Pest companies are often keen to blast nests with nasty chemicals in order to get paid, where there is often no need.  Bees will continue to build a nest until they swarm when a queen mayB left behind with a small 'family'.  Wasps build a nest, die in the cold weather and never return.

We had a bumble bee nest under our shed 2 years ago I spent hours watching them ........ the wasps built a nest in the grape vine which DH found when picking grapes  :o.  Of course, wasps like grapes  >:(. We gave the nest to the play group.

Leave well alone ?

Of course not, if it's stood for that long  ;D.  Check that there aren't any sealed holes which means there are solitary/mason bee eggs inside, waiting to hatch.  Is it thatched?

Off to feed the wild birds.

I would never buy anywhere near a thatched property.  Due to fire risks.   R U able to see the line where the thatch was .........

Drizzling. Nipped out and back to feed the birds  ::)

Baby blue tits are chirping loudly in the nest when their food arrives.

Jackdaws can be a little dense!  One had got under the netting [2 stop the heron pecking fish from the water] in the middle pond in the early hours, it managed to fly out without any damage.  It's back!  Sliding in2 the top pond trying not to get wet  ;D.  I hope that the claws don't tear holes in our liner !  >:( ....... I can get within 3 feet, it's so engrossed with exploring - probably the sound of the water from the pump is attracting it.

Ours hunt amongst the algae where the little creatures and larvae are. The blackbirds are really good at it too. I don't have fish though so don't have to use netting  :)

That reminds me about the blackbird that leant precariously over the edge to swoop tadpoles  :o

A squirrel fell in my pond the other day. He was probably trying to get a drink and the level was a bit too low. The bird bath would have been easier, I can't imagine the birds' bath water is any less palatable than the pond. Perhaps he just prefers newt-flavoured water  :-X.
On a more positive note, a hedgehog came bustling into the garden last night. I haven't seen one round here for years  :)

No, I heard a small splash and a sopping wet squirrel ran across the lawn and up the tree. Wish I'd seen it though  ;D. No night camera. I'm jealous of your regular hedgehog visits! Any luck with the rat traps?
