We have a female blackbird on a nest :-)))).  Eye height to myself so have put a chair and barrels in front so that I don't blunder into the bush!  :-*

Fingers crossed! You can't tell if a hog is pregnant though so it's probably a little fatty  ;D

Why would they limp?

It's the calcium phosphorus imbalance they cause which is the problem. I've taken many to wildlife rescue over the years. It is distressing to see.

So why don't birds suffer?

Caterpillars  >:(

U may have noticed cobwebs in hedgerows in recent years, made by caterpillars as protection against birds.  Yesterday I found a clump on the spindle tree in part of the garden: tomorrow I'll need to go out for a good look round as they soon spread.   :(.

An 'expert' last week on TV was explaining how great Nature is, particularly the way that this particular caterpillar protects itself.  It is obvious that he hasn't noted that the hedges where they were last year are denuded completely!

Off to search for the critter on line!  Spindle Ermine Moth: supposedly the hedgerow will recover, however locally we haven't seen any evidence of new leaf growth this year  >:(

I took my dog for a walk today through the woods.  It was deserted, just me, Barney and the most beautiful bird song.  I sat and listened and felt so calm x

I recorded it but not sure how to post on here but it was beautiful x

How is Barney, enjoying Life?  We have birds around, I could hear the blackbird at 4.30 this morning  8).  The robin sings late into the evening.  Good for the Soul.

Nothing better than sitting outside just listening to whats around. Or a walk up the fields near us and the skylarks are the tiniest dot in  the sky but the air is filled with their song. Then the simplicity of watching the baby sparrows taking a dip in the many bird baths I have scattered in the garden. And the mad crow of the pheasant. Love it. Definitely calms my entire self.
First baby robin in today too.am a bit of a birdwatcher, local only, have had 67 species in and over the garden in the years we have lived here. Costs a fortune in bird seed, but repaid tenfold to what we receive in return.
