In the early hours DH muttered :There's someone moving around outside: so up we got to investigate.

We have a metal gate in the side passage, male and female 🦔 s had met on either side, neither would give way.  So they were head banging each other ....... at the same time we found a very large black all over moth : Pippestrelle size : on the wall.  Trying to identify it now.  Not a Death Head .

Was watching QI last night and one of their facts was that robins rarely live up to two years and the likelihood of seeing the same Robin in your garden two years on the trot would be a rarity. Also the red breast is a "keep away" sign and the bigger the red breast the more dominant the male is AND they will attack ferociously anything red, even a tomato  ;D
Was fascinating, mind you,you probably knew all that  ;D

Always good to hear nature news ;-).  Our robin parents bring their young to our feeders  8) so who knows how old they might be.

Two small hogs here last night  :-*

Rare twin giraffes have been born at a national park in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, the country's tourism minister has said.

I was so pleased to see the first hummingbird hawkmoth of the year on the buddleia. Unfortunately the sparrows were happy to see it too. Breakfast!

We've had ermine moths too.  As well as a large brown Vulcan-shaped moth.  Bats; pippestrelle and Noctural.  (sps).

Nature in the raw Taz?

Think all of your skylarks were here this year! All dispersed now that breeding is done and the hay/wildflower meadow has been cut.

I love the green woodpeckers. Have one here looking for the ants.

I think that birds use ants to dislodge parasites in the feathers?
