Feeling low the last few days
« on: May 11, 2020, 06:02:38 PM »

Hi all
Feeling low at the moment.  My period is due so that could be it.  I also feel trapped by the current situation.  I guess most people do.
I am taking oestrogen patches 75 and utrogestan 200mg vaginally.  I tolerate them better but they still effect me. I am exercising .should I increase oestrogen or just wait for period.  Sorry for moaning just feel sad alone and isolated moon  :'(

No need to apologise, that's what we?re all here for,for us to have a moan when we need to  :)
I remember that feeling before a period and even knowing that it IS that that's making us down doesn't really help at the time.Really hope you feel better soon.

200mg utrogestan vaginally is a lot. Do you have to take such a high dose, I know many take only 100mg? Progesterone is known to cause low mood. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to advise soon X

It's hormonal probably due to your cycle.

200mg is the standard dose if you're taking it sequentially, it's 100mg if used continously. Do you have other meno symptoms or are they under control on your current dose? If they are then a higher dose probably won't help. My low mood was helped by testosterone. How is your libido? Maybe wait a few days and see if you feel better when you bleed? I've tried increasing oestrogen to counteract tiredness on utrogeston, it didn't help me but you could try it and see.

Hi  Everyone
Thank you for replying..it means such alot. My husband is lovely but not much help. He told me to stick another of them patches on.
I think the utrogestan is a problem. I was terrible taking it orally. I have been taken it vaginally for two months.  It's better but still have symptoms. I still have periods even though I'm 55.
My other symptoms are under control. I don't have a,sex drive which upsets me alot  . Thank you all again. I hope you are all doing okay moon xxxx

You need testosterone for your libido. It usually has to prescribed by a specialist so you could ask for a referral to your local menopause clinic. If you look at the Treatments tab you can see what other progestins are available. You might find something else suits you better.
I was still regular at 55, now 59 and still have some 'normal' cycles.
