Is it Just me?
« on: April 30, 2020, 10:29:33 AM »

Hi Everyone I have just joined this lovely group
I live in Ireland and I just want to connect with other ladies going through similar experiences to myself.

I am 48 and for the last few years, I have been feeling awful.  My cycles have changed from every 29/30 days to every 3.5 weeks.  My iron and b12 are always low which I am working on.  But I am getting symptoms that I am unsure if connected to the Iron levels being low, or to perimenopause.  These are:
shaky even when walking around
nausea,
anxiety,
dizziness like woozy but not spinning
tired weak.

I have seen multiple specialists who just blew me off.  But I genuinely feel shocking.  I try to do everything right eg diet exercise etc but nothing seems to help.  I also take magnesium but it just knocks me out, b12, iron, and vitamin D.

Does anyone get these vertigo without the spinning symptoms and the others I mentioned above?

I just dont know where to turn.  I am not a candidate for HRT due to close family history of Breast Cancer.  I am not on any hormonal contraceptives.

Thanks in advance x

Forget the close history of breast cancer!  Quality of Life Girl, Quality of Life ?   :welcomemm:

Some find that keeping a mood/food/syptom diary useful.  I have a light headed feeling due to a nerve in the back of my neck, if I move it makes me go 'oh' and I feel 'odd'.  It doesn't persist, fortunately.

How is your diet over-all?  Maybe eat every 3 hours even through the night.  Stops that awful sugar dip when the body is hungry.  Hormones can cause havoc with sugar stability.  NAPS advised me to eat every 3 hours, 24/7.  It worked for me and I continue to have safe foods to hand: Dextrose tablets; mixed fruits and nuts; bananas; porridge  :sick02:  ;D; pancakes  :-* ......... I try to eat B4 my body gets hungry so carry snacks with me all the time.

Maybe stop everything that you are taking?  Magnesium can cause 'the runs' too.  I was low in VitD levels: I would do 20 mins weeding then have to sit.  Still.  For 2 hours.  Has your GP/Nurse Practitioner done a full blood count recently?

You are not alone.  It's The Change - does what it says on the tin!

There's new advice regarding breast cancer. I'm not sure if this is okay to recommend another site but Dr Loyis3 Newson is a fountain of knowledge. She does recordings about hrt and did one specifically about breast cancer. Also search on this site.

There's also a book recommended about a surgeon who thinks it's OK to prescribe HRT ..... but being menobrained, I can't remember the Surgeon nor name of the book  ::)

Hi fed up..👋🏼

Everything you've mentioned I had. All meno,symptoms.
A lot of it, is anxiety related. Anxiety on its own causes a lot of different symptoms.
it's just horrendous. That feeling of dizziness, would come from now where. Now, the only time I seem to get it is when I'm really tired.
I'm on hrt tho, and although not perfect, it works.
You have my sympathy, keep going, and keep posting to ask questions or just to let us know how your doing. We?re here for you.

It might be worth seeing a meno specialist (not necessarily private, you can go to an NHS menopause clinic). Transdermal hrt is safer than oral so perhaps you need to weigh up the risks vs benefits. The risk of bc with transdermal hrt is less than drinking, smoking or being overweight.
