Author Topic: 9 days fertile cervical mucus but thought my symptoms due to low Estrogen ?.  (Read 5126 times)

I'm so confused, during the Estrogen only phase  (Estraderm mx50) I feel agitated, buzzing like I've drunk 20 strong coffee 's, my brain won't  switch off, I feel so down, irritable, I feel doom and gloom, cannot sleep a wink, but then next day I could feel normal, but bad days outweigh the good.

Now I thought all of the above were due to my Estrogen still being too low ?, BUT sorry if this grosses anyone out, but I used to track ovulation and cervical mucus,  well I have just had 9 days of what we call egg white fertile mucus, never seen so much in my life, 9 days is abnormal, I have only ever got 1-2 days of it throughout my entire life. This mucus normally peaks when Estrogen is at it's highest, soooo am I right to think my symptoms are from too high estrogen levels  ?. My Dr wants me to try mx75 but I'm not so sure that's a good idea  :-\

Hi Lillith

I'm not sure I've ever experienced symptoms of too high oestrogen or if I have, I didn't know. I was blissfully ignorant about what hormones were doing during most of peri-menopause, just had tears and flushes and sweats etc etc coming and going until late peri when fludhes did not go away and I knew my oestrogen was low ( when i started reading about it!).

If you are tracking cervical mucus and reliably know when you are ovulating then that should be your guide. Your oestrogen will be at its highest then.  The added oestrogen from the HRT is designed to prevent the low crashes that can occur at the end of the cycle but also will add to what you are already producing if the dose is not high enough to suppress ovulation. How long have you been taking HRT and how far along the menopause journey were you when you started ie periods, cycle length etc? Also how old are you?

Hope you're feeling better today!

Hi Hurdity, thanks for replying, sorry late reply, another awful day today, feel panicky and a bunch of nerves, didn't sleep a wink last night

Well I am 48 in August,  cycle length before hrt was 26-29 days, last around 5 days. I started hrt 3 months ago. I don't suffer hot flushes but have been increasing anxiety, irritability,  libido is zero, bladder issues, dry skin, thinning hair and main issue lack of sleep, this has been on going for maybe 8 years, but recently mood has got much worse and I have zero tolerance.

Also wanted to add that I still have the fertile egg white cervical mucus, that's a crazy 11 days of it ! , I'm well into the second half of my cycle now on utero, egg white should be gone.

hi

i used to take estrogen on its own as i've had full hysterectomy but i felt awful on it and was only on 2 pumps of gel and i knew it wasn't low estrogen but for me imbalance i was moody ratty headaches weight gain bloated constipated aniexty depression hair shedding i didn't know if i was coming or going. i stopped for 9 weeks and all vanished apart from weight gain and yes flushes came back but not bad i never had them bad and sleep disturbed. so i now am trying the gel with 100mg daily still 2 pumps estrogen and feel better still haven't lost weight but hair isn't shedding as bad it's been 9 weeks and mood even aniexty barely there but what i have noticed is that every now and then i don't know if it's every 2 weeks but i get watery discharge and this has been since starting progesterone i?m going to keep a record of it because i wonder whether taking the progesterone is making my body think it's ovulating ? even though i have no bits lol but i've got it this morning and will see how many days it last and when it next happens but normally i have to stop progesterone for one or two days and it goes back to thicker discharge x
but when i read up about it it is estrogen that makes us wetter so whether it's because i have a spike of estrogen or whether to progesterone is making va worse and causing this watery discharge .
i?m at wits end with it all and hoping if i start tesosterone it will help x

Hi Sammie, so the estrogen wasn't agreeing with you either, maybe background hormones too. I feel like Jeckyl and Hyde, one day I'm ok, then next its the end of the world, the worst is the panicky, nervous feeling, it lasts all day.

Regarding your discharge in the progesterone phase cervical mucus is normally a milky white colour, fertile can be thick egg white or a clear watery.

hi

i have no cervix or womb or ovaries
when i took estrogen only it was thick white discharge
now with progesterone added i?m finding it sticky watery or milky white like milk basically but the watery wet my knickers maybe it's just the hormones causing it to differ slightly maybe i have peaks and dips with the hormones not sure because it's not every day x i will mention it to menopause on the 14th when i have my telephone appointment .
also my hair shed a lot on estrogel alone which it's not shedding as much since adding progesterone but feels thinner it's strange x

Even though you have no cervix the walls of the vagina will produce lubrication, and the bartholin gland I think its called.

I get episodes of massive hair loss, specialist said diffuse alopecia,  it also coincides with my brain racing and insomnia so I'm not sure if there's another cause,, I was wondering maybe thyroid.
