Good news and bad! Had enough of this now :/
« on: February 25, 2020, 11:35:35 AM »

Hi girls,

So I had my smear this morning, the good news is no pain this time. Think bcz I've been using vagifem and YES.

The very patient nurse had a real hard time finding my cervix. It took 20 minutes and several different angles, techniques, cushions and speculums to find it. In the end I was on my side with a cushion under my hip with one leg in the air. This has never happened before.

So the bad news is that she saw a polyp. I have an apmnt booked with a Doctor to now spend 20 minutes rummaging around to find it too, and then obv a referral.

Reading up in the archives it seems I may need a dreaded hystroscopy. I'm just so sick of the prodding at this point as i've just had a colonoscopy and a TV scan of the endometrium. I thought this was going to be the end of the whole "let us look up your orifices" phase i seem to be stuck in.

Reading online it seems like cervical polyps occur due to too much estrogen or inflamation. I'm only on 2 and a half pumps and tapered up to that very slowly so not been at that dose for long. Plus vagifem 3 times a week. I'm so pssd off now. Wondering whether to stop vagifem until I know whats going on, but if I do that the prodding I'm due to get will be more painful...aggghhhh!

I did bleed after sex for the first time last week so guess this was from the polyp. What are the other symptoms if any? My main issues are diarrhoea and hair loss, can these be linked I wonder? I think the hair loss is tesotgel as it seems to be in a male pattern area.

Please if anyone has any experience with polyps, would you care to share.

Thanks
TD

Hi Turkish Delight! I had a polyp around 12 years ago, so I was 34 at the time. My symptoms were long horrendously heavy periods with clots the size of my palm which was quite scary, spotting between periods and bleeding after sex. I had a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic to check there weren't any more after the culprit was removed and was given the all clear. I was told it was likely due to me having 3 children as apparently the more children you have the higher the risk of getting them and they can recur but touch  wood I've had nothing since.

Polyps are that.  Polyps.  Can occur in any orifice. Apparently. I had one that bled on contact which the Gyane wanted to remove. Way sooner than ever I went into peri.. I refused surgical intervention as I was in a bad state, it shrunk.  On it's own.  At peri  ::)

I always had my smear test taken with my back to the practitioner, leg in the air - for years.  Don't stop the Vagifem, it's unlikely to be connected.  Better to remain comfortable !!

Diarhooea can be hormonally led.  [pity I can't spell  >:(].  Hair loss - no one really knows what causes that.  Maybe look at the alopecia web site?

Morning gals,

Thanks so much for helping me. After your comments and sleeping on it I feel less stressy.

7dwarfs I wish I could have a general anaesthetic, but probably can't. I think I may need to be awake in order to move around for the best veiwing position, as it seemed like my cervix hid and never wants to be found again. I was relaxed during smear and had taken paracetamol but still the hide and seek game went on for 20 minutes.

CLKD you are everything and so was your reply  :D You have a way with words, I instantly felt a whole lot better after reading your mesg. Thanks.

Hia SJ Sorry to hear that you're having hair loss too. It really sucks, and despite it being a relatively superficial symptom, it still affects us, our image and mood too.

I am prone to hair loss yes. In general, but If I take anything that has a potential risk it makes it that much worse.
The hair loss I'm having now is on another level to anytime before. It's coming out all day and in a male pattern sorta formation, which are both new to me. Obv I'm suspecting the Testogel for that reason as ive just hit the 5-month mark of taking it. The testogel is starting to get my sex drive back but at the cost of some hair it seems. Also had more greasy skin and oilier hair and spots....nice! Should have guessed this would but I live in hope. I've just yesterday started to cut down to a pea-size every other day to see if it will help. Hoping to have my cake and eat it.....hm! So you think it may be the O gel? Do you plan to restart it, apparently that's the scientific way of testing a reaction. Is to stop, wait a while, and restart. Or are you on another form of hrt now?
