Cold turkey / symptoms return / what next?
« on: February 12, 2020, 07:45:33 PM »

hello everyone,
I had a bit of a scare in January and the doctor told me to stop HRT immediately. The cancer triage clinic gave me the all clear after various bloods/tests/scans etc. But my doctor would like me to have a break from HRT to see how I am. I was on Evorel Conti for two years. I'm 49 and had my last period at 45.

So, having gone cold turkey - ive got a fabulous array of symptoms now hitting me.  :o I've got headaches, I'm bad tempered and tearful, have joint pain, and am getting approx 8 hot flushes every hour - followed by what I call 'the freezes?. Sleep appears to be a thing of the past as a result of the flushes/freezes.

Does anyone know if this is likely to settle down, if this is simply ?cold turkey? or if this is what I'm dealing with long term? Anyone have any similar experience?

The doctor suggested waiting 3 months before I am reviewed again and then possibly referred to the menopause clinic.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm trying to look on the positive side, so any advice or shared experiences would be welcome!

Thank you,
D.

i had full hysterectomy and oopherectomy at 35 and didn't take hrt for 4 yrs the first 2 yrs were worst for flushes but i never had them that bad then they improved but other symtoms appeared for me 4 yrs later at 39 i?m now 40 been on hrt a year short break recently but haven't found one to suit i don't think me personally can tolerate estrogen on its own so i?m adding in progesterone and if it works great this is under my meno specialist x

when i took the break 9 weeks sleep and flushes came back but everything else improved for me VA was a little dryer so upped the ovestin but i could of managed my mood was better off hrt then on x

Why should you suffer for 3 months? I bet he wouldn't wait if he felt as bad as you do.
