Estradot User Guidance please
« on: January 30, 2020, 10:29:22 PM »

Hi all

Ok so I have been given the green light by Dr Newson to have a go with Estradot 100s and top up with Estrogel if necessary.

I have a few random questions for Estrodot and patch users please...

- how big is the Estrodot 100?
- where are the best places to stick them?
- what's the best way to help them stick?
- what's the best way to remove them?
- I can react a bit to plasters, what's the best way to minimise reaction with patches?
- When do you change over for even absorption? I know it says 3 and 4 days, is 3.5 better?
- if I swap from gel to patch I'm assuming it won't take 3 months ish to build up again?
- should birth marks be avoided for application area?
- showering advice

Anything else you think I should know.

I'm excited to try them and sooooo hoping that they work for me!!!

Thanks in advance for all your help x

Size 4cm x 2cm
Lower abdomen, anywhere below navel. Alternate sides on changeover day.
Very sticky so don't need much help. Hold palm over patch, or rub index finger all over.
Peel off and remove sticky residue with baby oil or surgical spirit.
Don't think you can minimise skin reaction, but I am sensitive to plasters and have been OK.
Changeover, I always think 3.5 days is best.
No, it won't take 3 months to build up. A few days perhaps.
Don't know about birth marks, perhaps best to avoid?
They are fine in the shower.
You will find it soooooo much more convenient than gel!

Good luck and hope you don't experience supply issues.

Thanks JP.

Is it ok to stick them on the bum? I get some sensitivity below the belly button since my hysterectomy.

I've got to get some privately at first so hopefully in a couple of months when Evorel are back on the market Estrodot will be more easily available (fingers crossed).

Do you top up with gel too?

Thanks again x

Good morning Bobidy,

I'm sure it's fine to stick Estradot on the bum. I just find it easier to use lower abdomen as I can see better when getting any residue off, that's all.

I do not top up with gel, having been a poor absorber with both the gels.

I am a 12.5 year user of Estradot until the recent shortages.

I've always put on butt cheek.

Develop a habit of having a discreet feel now and again to check they are still stuck (in case they become a little unpeeled at the edges).

Avoid knicker line or waistband of jeans etc.

Never ever scratch if it's a bit itchy ( which mine sometimes is) or at least scratch nearby not immediately around the patch.

Don't rip off suddenly but peel off slowly. Re the baby oil make sure you thoroughly wash any oil residue from where you've applied the patch as this can affect absorption. Also as with gel don't use shower creams or any product that can form a barrier between patch and skin.

Careful in extremely hot weather as they can dislodge a little depending on what you're doing - or if sunbathing!

I started with 3 days alternating with 4 days for manay years then a few years ago changed to 3.5 days and more recently to 3 days ( which means you use them up slightly quicker) changed in the morning (I found my levels dropped off  after this - as I had a blood test via GP).

Otherwise as per Joaniepat :)

Good luck and hope they work well for you!
