Who has felt better on HRT and what kind?
« on: January 06, 2020, 10:19:47 PM »

Hi everyone

I've gone from being energetic, confident and water tight, lol, to suddenly peeing every time I cough (ok I've got the flu which isn't helping), no energy and generally feeling low.  The low feeling seems to be about the fact that I've lost a lot of people close to me, including my dog, and I feel all I've got to look forward to now is getting old.

I mentioned all these symptoms to the doctor and she has arranged for me to go and see her next week with a view to starting some HRT or at least trying the cream.  She thinks as the stress incontinence has only just started, HRT may well turn it around quite quickly.

I know before my bladder was slightly irritable before a period (never incontinent though) and I feel like I've been waiting for a period for the last 2 months, as if it's coming any day.  Tender breasts, everything, but it's not coming yet.  I suppose this might be why there's stress incontinence now and maybe if things are balanced again it will improve.  Can anyone tell me if feeling like a period is due any day, for months, is part of it?  ::)

Thanks

Hi KaraShannon  :welcomemm:

Check out at the top of the forum, there is a long list of peri/meno symptoms - quite scarily long actually but don't let it worry you.  My view is if you know what might happen then you will know what it is if it comes.  There will probably be things on there you never even considered peri/meno symptoms.  In fact there are things on there that doctors don't recognise as meno symptoms but they are!!!!
The short answer to your question "what kind of hrt" is that when you start off, you don't know what will suit you.  Most of us on the forum have learned that it is all down to trial and error and what suits one, won't suit another.  Some of us get it right after the first or second go...the rest of us just keep going until we find the one which works best for our bodies!  Unfortunately there is no hard and fast rule, but what I can say is that as you go along you will find plenty of advice, experiences and support here on the forum for any issues you encounter.
You just have to start and see how you go and let us know how you get on. xxx

Hi KaraShannon,

The stress incontinence may well improve on the local (cream) oestrogen and the systemic HRT, as the whole pelvic floor area and bladder needs oestrogen to function well. However, stress incontinence is a classic symptom of an over-tight (hypertonic) pelvic floor. You could ask to see a specialist Women's Health Physio if it doesn't improve, or find one privately.

Best wishes,

Hi Karashannon

I feel much better on hrt, I describe it as putting me back to me. As soon as I started (I'm on patches) I felt an overwhelming sense of wellness as if my body was oestrogen deprived, and thanking me for it.  Having said that I've struggled with the progesterone part and it's taken me a long time to get that part sorted, but it's been worth it.

I would say to you do your research before you see your GP and don't be fobbed off with the cheapest thing. Patches and gels are very good and as they are transdermal are better for you as they don't go through the liver.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on x

HI
I feel much better on HRT. It has taken a while and a lot of tinkering, but finally some success, don't get me wrong i still ahve some symptoms, but overall improvement.
I am on Pills and patches (long story! and a lot of tinkering), i absolutley second Perinowpost. Aslo Ladybird 28 with the trail and error thing.
I still get a bit of an irratable bladder, but certainly not as bad as it was- swapping ST's for TENA was not what i wanted to do!!LOL
Mental health, slug behaviour, energy levels=massive improvment.
Now all these 'improvments' coudl be just me thinking they are, but if i drop my HRT and symptoms return, so my experiment on myself suggests they are not all in my mind.

Hi sgtvhilts
I started HRT 33 days ago I am on Kliovance
I take it once a day at the same time.
After 5 days I stoped getting up at night to pee. After 3 weeks I stoped being woken in the morning and having to get up immediately to pee.
I can actually roll over and have a sleep in.Its Fantastic!

Thanks everyone, well I had to cancel my doctor's appointment again, I've had a horrendous year (2019) and such a back log of work and I just couldn't get to that appointment.

Now will probably have to wait another month, though I understand why.

Re the stress incontinence I went from having absolutely no problem at all, to quite a significant problem when coughing with the flu recently (and I could cough and sneeze to my heart's content before).  It hasn't gone with the flu either, I still have to be on guard when I cough.

Hopeful based on some of your comments, I'm suffering with exhaustion at the moment or I would reply to you all individually (and that's usually how I like to do things in forums).  I am hoping that once I start HRT that I will feel a bit more back to myself, the fatigue is awful as well and lack of confidence, for no reason, I just seem a bit more shaky mentally and that was never me.  Oh dear, lol.
