Femoston 2/10 AND mirena
« on: December 19, 2019, 06:51:15 PM »

Hi All,

I'm peri menopausal and was taking Femoston 2/10 very successfully, although I was struggling with heavier painful periods.

Doctor recommended mirena and I've had one fitted yesterday. I was expecting to have my medication amended to just oestreogen as a result of the mirena providing the progesterone.

The doctors have advised me to keep on Femoston 2/10. Will I not be receiving too much progesterone?  I've been fairly intolerant to progesterone before, and was moved onto Femoston to try to help, but I'm now worried I maybe overdosing on progesterone with a double whammy.

Any advice? I'm 45 and have been on high dose HRT for three years.

Thanks ladies xx

Hi Nicky

I'm not an expert but it seems like too much to me. With mirena you usually just use gel or patches, and because your uterus is protected you can up your oestrogen dose to achieve balance. Don't see why you'd need Femoston 2/10 as well. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon x
