Just a thought, do you think he might have put them in his luggage to take home.

I thought that too.  People do strange things

I suppose it's possible but that wouldn't really explain the blocked loo incident. We do have modern plumbing, it's a new house, so it did surprise us at the time. But if this was the case then it's probably another reason for putting out 2-ply cheapy stuff next time. Might reduce the attractiveness of our bog roll  ;)

I can go one better.  Buy the daily paper, read it, leave in the bathroom with some scissors?

Do you have a modern toilet with a water saving flush ?

We always use ours on full flush, as it can be inadequate  ::)

Supermarket* decent own brand 2-ply usually works ok.  Strong enough to do the job but disintegrates when wet.

*Can vouch for Sainsbury and waitrose, but not sure I have used any others recently.

That's the information I need dahliagirl, thank you. (Although I have found all the contributions to this thread immensely entertaining  ;D) We use Sainsburys sometimes so I'll get some of theirs.
Cheers

Hope it works!

Along with the reduced water flush, I wonder if the modern flexible toilet connectors (that look like tumble dryer hoses) contribute.  Online reviews all seem hunky-dory in the reviews, but they do need "  solid support to prevent sagging"  ::)

I use Sainsbury's own brand soft most of the time and haven't had any problems.
