For the last two days I've had a tight , sore almost crampy feeling in my calf. Has anyone else had this?

Thanks

I would get that checked out to rule out a DVT.

If it's DVT it will also feel very hard.

Could be just muscle cramps.  If I stretch in my sleep I often get cramp in my left calf.  Sometimes it's sore the next day too.

Knowing two people who have had a had DVT, of which one progressed to pulmonary embolism even though they had seen a GP i would prefer to get checked out.

I suffered with sore and crampy leg muscles. They were so bad I would end up with torn muscles. They started in feet and calves and then moved on to hamstrings, as well as neck muscles and hands. My hands would cramp up even when I opened a toothpaste tube. I started HRT and the cramps have almost been eliminated. I am convinced they were another side effect of reduced oestrogen.

Hi all

thanks for the replies :-)

Just back from the hospital now.  They did an assessment, and based on that they did some blood tests. My   d-Dimer result came back as 150 , and the guidelines for my age and sex is less than 570, so they were really happy with that.

They took bloods to check for infections too, and they came back clear.

Fiona -- its interesting what you say about the reduced oestrogen.  I'm on HRT (3 pumps of oestrogel & utrogestan), but lately I've been feeling like I did before I started on HRT, very anxious, palpitations, really bad joint  and bones aches.  Does make me wonder if I'm not absorbing well anymore, or my own levels have dipped further, so the does is no longer enough.

The nurse said maybe I need to increase my salt a little bit ( I avoid salty things mostly, but I do eat shop bought bread which has salt).  I worry about BP, which is why I am conscious of it.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't, eh?

I said to the nurse and the trainee.. whatever you do, don't go through menopause!

Hi Jeepers,

Glad they have put your mind as rest.  As for the salt, its roll in BP is much exaggerated.  You have to eat an awful lot for it to make a difference.

Takr care :)

LOTS++ like wagon loads!

Paternal Grandma would always suggest more salt on our foods when we complained of cramp.

Glad that you got it sorted.  How do you feel?
