Hi Wrensong - I quite agree there doesn't need to be (resistance)!!! I think though there is little enough recent research into long term HRT use over 60 and especially the bio-identical hormones, and cyclical HRT and also of course testosterone. Because of the known link between endometrial thickening, hyperplasia and cancer I think docs tend to focus on this as a preventable condition (through a balanced conti regime) whereas because the breast cancer link is not proven and the mechanistic explanation seem to be lacking if there is a link, they seem to overlook the risk of taking progestogens all the time ( into advanced age!) especially the synthetic ones. of course all these risks have to be weighed up against other risks and benefits so you choose your risk! (Have I said that already?!). Sorry - repeating myself - shows I am definitely getting long in the tooth!!!
There is still a long way to go with educating GPs. At the moment those of us who encoutner resistance from local surgeries and who are referred to consultants have to rely on the consultants communicating with and thereby educating the GPs. Glad your specialists are in board anyway
