Lubricant...
« on: September 16, 2019, 03:39:44 PM »

At present I use Sylk as a lubricant...not had full intercourse for years... So just for, Well... foreplay
It's ok but not very lubbie and dry quite quickly ..
I'd quite like to get a full relationship back with Hubby but dryness and the thought of UTIs that seem to follow even without full sex just clams me up...

Vagifem alone isn't doing it....

I'm reading a lot on here about the YES brand and have also been reading reviews elsewhere, thing is there's two kinds one's water based and the other is oil based... I do realise that it's not 'one size suits all' and people like either or...but those that use it could you please recommend which one you prefer...
Thank you in advance

I use 'ky jelly' with success.  Others pohpoh it  ::)

I would use a water based initially.

They do two water based products  (VM and WB) and an oil based (OB). VM is a vaginal moisturiser, pH matched to the vagina. I use that one both internally and externally to combat dryness. OB is nice too, used externally. For penetrative sex they recommend a combination of OB and WB, details on their website. It's know as 'slide and glide'. You could try asking them for sample sachets.

 :thankyou:

Years ago I found 'durex' products made us both itch so we ditched those pronto.

I've used all 3 Yes products, Sylk & KY.  KY was fine in fertile years but is not adequate for me now & a meno nurse confirmed that many women find it's not suitable at menopause.  Reacted badly to the Yes VM which I had on prescription - it increased burning & soreness so I had to stop using it.  If I remember rightly the VM is flax based.

The Yes WB is OK - pretty thin so can be messy to apply, but if you are prone to UTIs I'd start with a water based product as the oil based could be harder to wash away.  As already said, Yes recommend using both OB & WB for penetration & a good idea to ask for sample sachets, as I've been given these at times, so they do have them available.

I find I need Vagifem 5 nights a week with Estriol cream applied externally & systemic HRT to manage VA, so if you are not on systemic HRT, only on minimal Vagifem &/or have not tried Estriol or Ovestin, it might be worth thinking about those options as well as changing your lube.

Thanks....

KY jelly was something I used for many a year then suddenly it made me itch...as did the Durex...

I definatly need to steer clear of one's that contain glycerin and fragranced one's ...

YES is coming up as sold at my local Holland & Barrett so I will pop in and have a look...

Menowoman....

Although I haven't tried it yet I did indeed buy the water based YES from Holland & Barrett today...

I'm on antibiotics for a UTI at the moment, which don't seem to be working and as I was only given 6, 2 left to take, it's not looking likely the UTI will shift with this course...

I'm also waiting for the prescription for a vaginal cream to come through to my local chemist to try in place of the Vagifem....

Feeling quite low and still painful down there...

I used the Durex one and had a horrendous burning sensation. I then went back to KY and there was something still not right about it, made me itch. I now use the Boots own version of KY which is definitely greasier and that works a treat. What that with the Testogel, my hubby thinks it's Christmas 😂😂
