With so may of us on gels and patches with varying dosages and success/failure in control of symptoms how about a bit of a type of poll?
Not sure whether it would be helpful but definitely would be interesting. If we could post in the following layout:

Age
Peri or Post meno (if post how many years).
Surgical or natural (if premature or not)
Oestrogen patch or gel - state formulation and dose.
Where/when you apply on the body - if gel how you apply, smear on or rub in.
Progesterone -formulation and route.
Testosterone- formulation and dose.
Where/when you apply on the body - if gel how you apply, smear on or rub in.
Whether you feel your symptoms are controlled or not on this regime, and how long you've been on it.

So I guess I'll go first!
Age - 56yrs
Peri or Post meno (if post how many years) - Post approx 8yrs
Surgical or natural (if premature or not) - natural
Oestrogen patch or gel - state formulation and dose -Gel Sandrena 1mg every day
Where you apply on the body - if gel how you apply, smear on or rub in -Morning  alternate front of thighs, spread with middle finger left hand to area around the size of a hand, I don't rub it in and I smear what's left on finger onto outer side of the same thigh.
Progesterone -formulation and route Utrogestan 100mg alternate nights vaginally.
Testosterone if used- formulation and dose - Tostran 2% alternate days 1 pump
Where you apply on the body - if gel how you apply, smear on or rub in - Morning, on the day when I haven't had the Utrogestan the night before. Dose split between both insides of knees.  I Use a little metal  spatula supplied with a face cream to apply and spread the gel so I don't actually touch it with my hands.

Whether you feel your symptoms are controlled or not on this regime, and how long you've been on it. - I would say symptoms pretty well controlled. Been on this regime since Jan this year and took 5 months to settle (spotting during first 5 months).

If anyone can think of anything else they'd like to throw in please do.

Hi Sooze - this is a great idea for a thread. It has been sort of done before ie what HRT have you tried, and does it work etc  but they soon drop off the page and are impossible to search for as too general for the search to pick up! I do think a post like this could be a pinned post and then others could find it and refer to it. If you think a good idea maybe ask Emma - but very few posts get pinned - we usually just have to find them and bump them!

You could add:
Patch - how often you change your patch?

Anyway me:
66, post-meno approx 10-11 years probably
Natural meno (but started HRT while late peri)
Estradot patch 62.5 mcg. (used to be 50 mcg before I started Testosterone). Changed every 3 days in the morning
Patches applied to alternate butt cheeks.
Utrogestan was 200 mg vaginally (2 x 100) for 12 days every 6-8 weeks. Recently reduced to 100 mg vag every 5-6 weeks (total cycle length)
Testosterone 1 % gel formerly testogel now testim but nearly run out - due at doc next week. Small pea-sized blob daily rubbed into lower inner thigh at knee. use my finger which I wash carefully! Used for 4.5 years almost.

Yes symptoms well controlled. hHre's my HRT history:

Started Evorel sequi 12 + years ago in late peri ( age almost 54) Controlled flushes etc but gave me migraines so changed after 3 months to:
Estradot 50 mcg + Cyclogest pessaries 2 x 200 mg (off licence) 11 days per 28 day cycle. Symptoms well controlled but got withdrawal migraines after stopping prog. Aged 54 - 57. Mention migs to doc and she suggested time for continuous HRT and prescribed Evorel conti ( even though I said that the Evorel sequi didn't suit me) . She said as it was continuous I should be OK. Applied one patch and got mig next day so ripped off patch in disgust.
Stopped HRT for 3 months age 57 until almost 58. Symptoms and more came back within 3 months.
Restarted 25 mcg patch age 58 with Cyclogest 1 x 200 vag every third night. Symptoms controlled initially then returned. No breakthrough bleeding.
Increased to 50 mcg patch and started Utrogestan vag 200 mg ( 1 capsule) 12 nights vag every 6-8 weeks as above Age 62 started testosterone and increased oestrogen to 62.5 mcg about 18 months ago and have been on this ever since.

Almost never had any breakthrough bleeding at wrong time ( odd cases of spotting which have reported to doc but nothing untoward found).

Never get flushes or sweats or depression or anxiety. The 50 mcg patch worked like a charm from the start in late peri and has never failed. This for me is the dose I need to control symptoms - but increased to 62.5 mcg when I started T so that I didn't become too T dominant.

Well you did ask!!!
