Oestogel Reference Document
« on: September 08, 2019, 04:15:33 PM »

Hi, I was wondering if we could start a reference doc post for Oestrogel for facts and any research findings info rather than personal experience (then maybe others for Vagifem etc).

I find it difficult to trawl through all previous posts to see if the info I want is there as we are all prone to going off on tangents and this useful info gets lost.  For newbies who just want info I think this would be a good starting point and we won't all need to keep asking the same questions. What do you think?

So for example:

Oestrogel...

- In the form of Estrogel, Oestrodose and Sandrena gel
- 1-4 pumps per day, increase gradually by half a pump
- each pump rubbed on approx 1 hand size surface area
- dries in 10 minutes, then dress
- absorbs in 2 hours
- 1 pump = equivalent to 25 patch, 2 pumps = a 50 patch, 3 pumps = 75 patch, 4 pumps = 100 patch
- rub onto outside arms or inside thighs
- Progesterone aldo needed if you still have a womb or history of endometriosis (in some cases)

Please add away as there is lots I don't know I'm sure, or links to any studies x

I often suggest that ladies put in the product name into the search box and read the threads that pop up: making notes  ;)

Bobidy that's a great idea. However.....the starting point for info on menopause is the info on this site but if you want to go into further detail yes the forum is a great resource. Unfortunately the only way to do what you are suggesting is for there to be pinned specific information posts (there are some pinned posts in most of the boards) – but unless they are locked – which they wouldn't be - they will inevitably get longer and harder to find the info, as members comment by giving their own specific query on these threads - just as you say, and nothing we can do to avoid this! Everyone is free to post wherever they please keeping within the rules of the forum so inevitably it's not a precise thing. Also we all come from a variety of backgrounds and all are equal – so there is no mechanism for anyone to verify what is posted.  All that is requested ( in forum rules) as that references are put to any medical or scientific info provided which is not our own experiences.

Neverthless some have provided what I think you are looking for on various topics over the years – but finding them can be difficult! I have done a couple – maybe more (I don't have records of these threads!) – one on testosterone (posted on this this morning), and one on studies re vaginal Utrogestan. What members can do is bump themn from time to time. Some of the long-running threads like Dancingigirl's “The Burning Club” will be a mix of v useful info and personal experience.  Ditto the Estrogel/Utrogestan support thread!  I also did one some years ago comparing Sandrena with oestrogel from the instructions which I can repost if I can find it.

Are there any aspects you particularly want to know about?
