The feeling as though I have not completely emptied is not there all the time and have had examination and mri and no significant prolapse whatever that means in gynocologist terminology!

Also had urodynamics test done and my bladder hold at a good capacity and empty's aswell normal but I get this feeling now and again that I haven't emptied properly x

Hi everyone

Just thought I would post an update.  I was off HRT for 3 months in total.  All of the blood tests were normal, however I was really having an awful time off the HRT to the point where I just could not function properly, I have a busy job and work was a nightmare. I made the decision to re-start HRT but not Kilofem 2mg as that really irritated me.   I managed to see a wonderful meno specialist who prescribed the the gel/tablet regime with daily vagifem, and I'm 1 week in which is improving some of the symptoms.  Currently on 2 pumps, but suffering from major water retention so I'm hoping that it will settle down.  I still have really painful legs which is the subject of a separate post.  The one thing I did notice whilst I was off HRT was that my weight dropped - half a stone in 6 weeks, and that included going on holiday.  I wish I could have stayed off it but my body said no!

Hi Stellajane

I'm so glad it's not just me - I was feeling very down about not being able to cope being off HRT, especially when my best friend said she had finished meno and not even had a hot flush or felt bad - argh - felt like I had failed in some way.  It's good to know I'm not alone, fingers crossed for this prep to work - although after a week the sweats have stopped as have the hot flushes so sleeping is improving  - just the tiredness, water retention and sore legs to fix

Hi Nairncat, great news that all your bloods were normal  :).  Please try not to feel bad about your body insisting on HRT - I've felt similarly down about being in that situation, especially after so many years since start of peri.   I have no remaining close family to compare notes with, though know my Mum got through it OK & none of my friends nor inlaws had a bad time at menopause, so that compounds the feelings of being somehow inadequate.  However, we are all so different & you only have to read a few posts on here to know the extent of suffering menopause can bring.

My feeling is that for some women, especially those whose bodies are compromised by other chronic health conditions or persistent stress (your demanding job must surely take a toll), HRT is a must if we are to be able to continue to function.  It need not be for ever, if you choose later, maybe after retirement, to taper off & see how you are at that point.  Thank you for taking the time to update us.  I hope your new meno specialist can tweak your HRT for you to relieve side effects at review if need be & I wish you well for the future.

Hi Wrensong

Thank you so much for your lovely and very kind message, you brought a tear to my eye.  I was thinking this morning that there is not enough kindness in the world and then I got your message :). Like you I have very little family to compare notes with so this forum and the (lovely ladies on it) has been really helpful.
