Hi, I was just wondering how long your oestogel prescription lasts for?

I get 2 pumps which lasts about 6 weeks and I feel like I'm always putting in a repeat.

Is this about right? I wondered whether to ask for 3 pumps so it lasts 2 months per prescription.

I use three pumps a day and get two canisters at a time so only lasts six weeks as does my Vagifem prescription, i feel like i live at chemist. I recently had a HRT review and forgot to ask if i could have more each time.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll ask and see what they say. Im not working at the mo so would really like more on my prescription if poss, particularly as the Androfemme is so expensive too!

I paid £97 for Androfemme (50ml). Is that similar to what others have paid on private prescription just through my local chemist.

Hi, mine is through Dr Newson, £80 plus £30 dispensary charge. This is ridiculously expensive but I'm ok with that if I can get more of the estrogel on the same Nhs prescription. I've basically swapped iron tablets and 4 packs of sanitary towels each month for hrt costs lol!

My doctor told me she could give three months supply of HRT the amount dependant on what you would use during that time. Would your doctor not issue this for you?

You can also get a yearly subscription charge for about £120. (I think). Ask at your chemist for the form.  It covers all prescription charges for the year.

Thank you, yes I'm going to ask this week for 3 months worth (6 x pumps if possible). I'm sick of the constant battle for everything, it's like pulling teeth at my surgery!

Again, the bigger picture is less admin / appointments for them, but less money for the NHS / pharmacy I guess.

Frustrating though as I'm not a scrounger, I've paid NI for 27 years up to having this career break pre and post op, and barely went near the docs for 36 years up to the peri nightmare.
