Hello 👋
I'm new to the forum and tbh didn't expect to be where I am menopause wise 10 years after a total hysterectomy and salpingo -oophorectomy, due to extensive endometriosis.
Initially I had oral HRT which I didn't get along with; then implants which worked initially and then didn't. I then had oestrogen gel which I found ok but I wasn't absorbing enough so finally patches which worked for some time but which I no longer seem to be absorbing.
A recent trip to my GP surgery and seeing an understanding GP who specialises in women's health has resulted in some blood tests, the results are in but I need to go back and discuss the results, another 10 days to wait for my appointment.
Strange as it sounds but I'm hoping that the results show I'm not absorbing enough oestrogen again, as it may explain the crippling anxiety I have begun to experience over the last 4-5 months......
It's a struggle to get to work and I'm petrified of making a mistake or missing something important.

Sorry for the long post but I'm hoping you ladies can identify with some of what I'm saying  :-\

Anxiety can be hormonally led.

R U using patches currently?  Maybe add half a patch to see if that helps?  Discuss with your GP and mayB put the name into the search box to see what pops up.  Make notes  ;)

Hello Mary.  :welcomemm:

Good to have you on board though I'm sorry to hear you're suffering with the dreaded anxiety.

I had BSO surgery a year ago (still got uterus)
And I have struggled with absorption, I didnt absorb the gel at all. . I  have only tried 2 patches femseven, which I didnt get long enough on to comment as it went out of manufacture just as I started taking it)   and estradot. I  am not absorbing that well either going by symptoms and blood tests. I have been referred to try the implant now.
So I realy do empathize   My non absorption issues are well known on this forum  it's frustrating and disheartening.  And I know what you mean about blood tests. Mine showed low level and I felt it backed up my symptoms. It seems on the forum each individual might need a different level of eastrogen to meet her needs.

I dont have endometriosis. Do you have to take a lower dose if you have it?

You dont say what patch or dose you are on.

Is there room to increas?

Hope you get lots of replies x

Hi Marymoo
 :welcomemm:

Sorry your suffering with the dreaded anxiety. We've all been there, most of us anyway. It's truly horrible. You have my sympathy.
Hope you get somewhere at your doctors appointment, maybe you wasn't on enough? Did you increase any of the hrts you were on? ..everyone's level is different.....anyway, wishing you good luck, and keep posting, someone's always on to give advice and support...

Jd xx....

Thank you for your kind replies  :)

I had my hysterectomy when I was 43, currently I'm taking Evorel 100 + Evorel 25, which recently one GP at my surgery dropped to 100, without any discussion, his note on the prescription said, the dose I was taking was outside of license. The GP I saw a few weeks ago disagreed with this.....
In the 10 years since my surgery I haven't experienced anxiety to this level before so I'm hoping there are other options.

Mary. Did you have both ovaries removed?

I have had exactly the same issue with being on 200 patch.  my gynae  agreed it as my eastrogen was still low on 100 and then 150.   But everytime I put a repeat prescription in there is a problem, for the same reason they gave you.

I guess it hinges a bit on your blood eastrogen results.. are you seeing the same doctor who specialises in WH. ?

In the meantime can you cut a patch to give you a quarter of one?  See if it makes a difference going back to 125. If it does it gives you a reason to argue your case if they say your dose is too high

Xxx

I guess

I'm guessing since

Back to the GP and discuss?  Do you keep a mood/food/symptom diary, it can be useful charting how you are as well as something to wave at the GP ;-).

Thank you Tc and CLKD.
Yes both ovaries removed. I'm seeing the GP who specialises in WH next week, my blood results are back but they won't give me the results over the phone, which is a little exasperating.
Like many others I have a stressful job and much of my anxiety is focused around that. Thanks for your useful suggestions 😊

Hi TC,
I saw the GP this morning and my estrodiol level was 1!
She was shocked, as was I  :o my previous lowest reading was 150.
My HRT patches have been changed and some testosterone has been added in. Fingers crossed 🤞

Thank you for asking x
