Elleste Duet 1mg now on Femeston but worried
« on: June 06, 2019, 08:44:55 AM »

I have seen posts about Elleste Duet Conti but not the 1mg combination version.

Due to UK shortage of Elleste (and also various other HRT tablets) I have been changed to Femeston 1mg. Is this the same? I was told it was similar but how similar? I had a gap of four days because my GP and pharmacy were out of sync. Now I have started the new HRT and I feel strange. Sore head and upset stomach. Spaced out feeling.

Elleste Duet 1mg has: 14 tablets of 1 mg estradiol (as estradiol hemihydrate).
14 tablets of 1 mg estradiol (as estradiol hemihydrate) and 1 mg norethisterone acetate.

Femoston: 14 tablets of 1mg oestradiol (as estradiol hemihydrate) and
14 tablets in a a combination of 1mg oestradiol (as estradiol hemihydrate) and 10mg dydrogesterone.

It is the dydrogesterone that is different. Anyone got any thoughts?
Is there a better alternative to Elleste Duet 1mg?

Thanks for advice.

Yes Femoston has a different progesterone.

The equivalent to Elleste Duet 1mg would be Novofem.

There are reports that Elleste should be available again late June/July x

Thanks. Mu GP said that the best one was Femoston. Unless they tried to suggest Novofem and that was unavailable...Hmmm... Will the different progesterone make a big difference?

The progesterone in Femoston is reported to be a kinder progesterone than the one in Elleste. But everyone is different x

Thank you. I'll stick with it and see. I have never liked the progesterone phase of the Elleste so perhaps this will be better for me. Currently I feel like i have a very dry mouth and a metallic taste. Side effect?

I posted yesterday re short supply of Elleste Duet and I was worried I'd be given something with a different mix if ingredients. I have just managed to get Novofem instead. As it's the same I'm hoping for no side effects of switching. :)
