Hi allie, so sorry to hear you are having a rotten time of it. If you are a migraineur, I'm afraid oral HRT is not usually advised. The peaks & troughs of absorption can aggravate the condition, so the continuous release from patch form is considered more suitable. I'm a migraineur too & did try Femoston Conti (oral HRT) for a short time as an alternative to patches because of absorption problems, but when I began getting daily headaches & other unwanted effects, I decided it was probably not the right form for me. If the gynae you saw was not at a specialist menopause clinic, could you perhaps ask for referral to one? I'm afraid I don't know how long you would need to come off HRT in order for bloods to show what's going on, but hopefully someone else with experience of that will be along soon.
