Hi , I'm a new member . I had a total hysterectomy in November 2018 and have found it incredibly difficult since with such awful menopause symptoms and fluctuations.Im on Evorel patches and my blood test came back and my Estradiol Levels were low and I just feel like a hormonal mess ,I've increased my dosage over time but just don't think I'm getting enough estrogen , I've just felt so lost and alone in this and not sure what to do ,can anyone offer advise please , Thankyou xx

Hi 

It can take a while to find the right balance of HRT.
What dose are you using?
If your level is still low and you're on a high dose then it looks like you might not be absorbing as you should. Maybe consider trying a different patch - I've tried a few and found Estradot to be the best for me. Some people get on well with the gel.
If you are really struggling and your GP hasn't helped you find a solution then maybe ask to be referred to a Menopause Specialist
I'm sure others will come along with advice but until then

Hi Vicky can we ask why you had your hysterectomy and how old you are.
I had a total hysterectomy 4 years ago and it was a catastrophe as they perforated my bowel.  They did manage to do the hysterectomy though and my gynae said as I was post meno the loss of my ovaries should not affect anything.  As it happens I nearly died from the complications but now 4 years later ( still with 3 stoma bags ) I do wonder if any of my symptoms are hormonal . 
Interested to see what advice you have from the ladies.
Not easy though is it, I bitterly regret having the op but that's probably because of the complications x

I had my op due to suffering with pmdd and I'm 45 ,I'm on Evorel patches .Sadlt we don't have a menopause clinic near by xx

Hi Vikki. We have others on here suffering from pmdd. Although you are feeling the effects of the hysterectomy and, I take it, ovary removal has it improved the pmdd symptoms?

Also have you had a look at the hysterectomy UK forum as there may be others in a similar situation. Were you guys en HRT advice before your op?

Hi Vikki Shame I've only just seen this I had a total hysterectomy for severe PMDD in Dec 16 aged 44. Hoping you have now upped your dose, you should find within 3 months whether the dose is right if not, go back to your GP and ask to up it again.
I was also given Everol patches, starting on the 25mg and now on 100mg and I seem to be doing well on them. I still suffer with mild anxiety but not every day, same with aches & pains, low libido and waiting to be prescribed testosterone.

    why don't Consultants discuss this prior to surgery   

It's early days yet.  HRT can take 3-6 months to improve how you feel.

CKLD my consultant was a waste of space. When I walked in he didn't even introduce himself, he barely said anything, just asked the nurse for the forms, filled them made sure I knew what could go wrong, signed my life away. He didn't ask if I had any questions or speak about HRT, I even had to ask to carry on with the GnRH analogue!! Absolutely useless & how much do they get paid??!!!

  Yorkshire Girl.  I really hope you can get sorted soon.  I am disgusted on your behalf with how you were treated prior to your surgery. I know you are feeling rotten at the moment but you really should complain. Giving you an indication of what to expect after the op is the least that should have happened
