Private or nhs
« on: April 02, 2019, 06:21:10 PM »

I'm thinking of going private for HRT. Is it worth it? Would you share your experiences. The highs and lies? I'm not making progress at present and too exhausted driving to multiple appointments. Yesterday and Today I feel exhausted and digestion spasms.....

If I remember, you digestion spasms has jogged a memory  ;)

We should be able to access all the medical care via the NHS but sometimes it is quicker to go to a Private Specialist.  However, some have no more idea about menopause than the man in the street  >:(  ::)

Do you keep a mood/food/symptom diary which may be worth while, a record of how you have been to show to a GP, Practice Nurse or Consultant.  Also allows us to see that we do have a few better days  ::)

Have you had HRT - if so, maybe put the name of the product into the search box here to see how others have got on with it?

Let us know how you get on.  Some Consultants practice both in the NHS as well as holding private consultations, which means that they are part-time - so you may be able to get advice privately and then go back into the NHS.  You could ring the various hospitals in your area and ask what prices are, most have very good web-sites too.  If you don't ask you don't get?

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to respond. I don't keep a mood food diary but will start tomorrow and see if there is a pattern. I have started the half patch evorel sequi to see if this helps and know I have to take it for three months at least. I  am going to trial this first. I will indeed feedback to help other ladies. I guess I'm nervous about wasting money when NHS gp can help. Thanks so much

I don't think that any information gained is money wasted, beneficial information or not.  Knowledge is power ;-).  We can then make informed decisions.
