Tnx.

We did our Duty Visit Thursday until yesterday.  Have rung Mum this morning and she said she enjoyed watching the birds at the Zoo yesterday.  :)

Thanks all I will take your happy Mother's Day messages, seeing as my 17yr old son has gone another Mother's Day with no card, present or even a verbal word, I suppose why start now, shouldn't expect anything less :'( Yet he is in out of shops/supermarkets while at college and still didn't get the hint!
I spoke to my mum yesterday after she loved the card I sent her.
Hope all the mum's in any capacity have a lovely day :foryou:

It's an age issue.   >:( they simply don't see what's around them, too busy glued to their gadgets most of 'em.

My sister, many years ago: our aunt gave her a gift for our Mum 3 weeks B4 the event and it took weeks B4 my sister remembered: despite all the hints etc. from Mum ..........

For all you ladies on here who no longer have your mum's with you, I'm sending you lots & lots of :foryou:
As I've posted in the past I'm not close to my mum, but when I had my son I made sure he knew he was loved, we did so much together enjoying visits to the park, days out, playing, reading etc
CKLD you're right children these days just don't get what's right in front of them, it's sad. He will be reminded shortly, that I'm upset he couldn't even say the words or get a card.

I feel a little tearful as my DIL sent me a Mother's Day mug with photos on it of me and the children from her and my son, who wouldn't have remembered particularly as Mother's Day is on a different day in the USA. Her own mum died very suddenly a few weeks ago.

My daughter popped in with a bunch of tulips, my favourite flowers, proudly presented to me by my grandson.

I think daughters tend to remember birthdays, Mother's Day etc, but sons don't without prompting.

Your son loves you, it's just that he's , well,...a son!
Mine were the same years ago, and needed  :kick:
It's only now they're older, they get it.....
But still, give him  :kick:. So he doesn't forget in the future.......xx

Well he tried excuses busy with college work etc but one look at my face told him it didn't wash with me!! His girlfriend offered to buy a card when she was getting one but he didn't feel that was right and yes he did notice all the cards etc in the shops, then had to be prompted by yours truly to even say the words  :bang: doesn't even cover it but hey ho, I laughed it off!

Hope you all had a lovely or relaxing Mothering Sunday either with your children or your mother or remembering your mothers or children....

Strange that this thread - an event on the calendar - is in this section, and yet the Birthdays and Calendar Events section reads like a set of obituaries - a load of deaths and terrorist atrocities (which do occur on a day - but are not an event on the calendar as such). Personally I would prefer to see them ( the tragedies, deaths and horrific events) reported in This and That - as they would be diluted as I feel they should be, otherwise it then seems really off to start wishing people Happy Christmas or Birthday in amongst the awfulness on the other board!

Oh dear that was really off topic and depressing!

Happy days!! I saw my mum and had phone calls from several of my distant children and lovely flowers chocs, cards and prosecco - what more can a girl want?!

For mothers and daughters everywhere   :tulips2:
