I've had it for five years. It does keep me awake sometimes. I was prescribed Nortriptyline, an AD used for nerve pain, and Lidocaine ointment. The tablets didn't do anything so eventually I stopped, and the Lidocaine gives partial relief though not always (like now) and only for about 30 minutes and you can only use it four times a day.
It was at least seven months before I saw a specialist, and I couldn't get a GP appointment because they kept saying it was a dental matter - you have to say when you ring why you need to see a GP, then he speaks to you on the phone. It was only when I said that my weight had gone down to 6.5 stone that I was given a appointment. I am depressed, not surprisingly, but also have to keep pretending that I'm not.
The range of what I can eat is very limited; nothing acidic, nothing hard, nothing with a texture, no strong flavours....at one point I more or less stopped eating.
I don't use a mouthwash - even if they don't contain alcohol they all have strong flavours, which I can't tolerate!
I've now found several threads here. Thanks for all the tips and information.
