10 months continuous combined - still bleeding daily
« on: March 07, 2019, 09:34:21 PM »

Hi, after a struggle getting a HRT that didn't make me feel ill I have been on Oestrogel 4 pumps and Desogestrel 2 daily for 10 months.

After the usual settling down phase I have found that this regime really has helped me... apart from one thing - bleeding daily.  It is more than spotting though less than a period.  I have had 2 transvaginal ultrasounds and apparently my endometrium is very thin and all ok.

I am now at the end of my tether with the bleeding and will be speaking with my specialist tomorrow, who has said that it can take up to 12 months for this so stop.

I am so reluctant to change the hormones again, after feeling generally ok for the last 6 months.

Has anyone else found that the bleeding does just stop after a period of time?

Thanks xx

How did you get on with your specialist?

Maybe the progestogen is too much as you are taking two eg your lining is too thin? Did they say what the measurement was and what the womb lining looked like?

Unfortunately some women find that they never settle on continuous combined HRT (re bleeding) or at least they get fed up of waiting and go back to sequi so that the bleed is predictable. Taz was one of those I remember from posts some while ago - I think that was the reason she went back to sequi in the past (as well as most likely hating the prog like many of us do!).

Is it possible to take the desogestrel cyclically at all? Do let us know what the specialist has said and hope the bleeding stops soon!

Hi - thanks for the replies.

My specialist has added in Utrogestan 100mg capsules orally as she feels that we I need more progestogen vs the oestrogen.

Hurdity - I have no idea about taking desogestrel cyclically as it seems I am very much menopausal.

I have had 2 transvaginal ultrasounds which show the endometrium is very thin.

I was very reluctant to change anything due to the fact it has taken me nearly 2 years of trying hrt to finally get to a stage where I feel settled - apart from the bleeding.  However, as my specialist said- it's easier to add something in (Utrogestan) to see if it works, if it makes me feel worse (like Testosterone) I can stop.......

Im more anxious because I have to go for a CT colon to look for tumours on Wed, which means no underwear and a tube blowing air into my backside..  I don't want to be wearing a tampon cos they already upset me due to adhesions and I just never know when the bleeding will start or stop (24 hour).

Eeek - too much information x
