Utrogestan - cramps and discharge
« on: March 03, 2019, 06:48:43 PM »

I've been using 1mg sandrena gel And 100 micronised utrogestan orally at night since last Oct.  Last fortnight or so I've started having mild cramps and a very slight discharge which stops after couple days. I've not had a period for over a year and even when I was having one, it was because I was on Prempak C long term which was a cyclical HRT.

I take the sandrena gel and utrogestan daily with no break.

Any advice whether cramping and discharge is normal?  I'm seeing my menopause consultant on 19th March for review but I'm starting to get a little anxious as to whats going on inside!

I still have my womb but ovaries removed 2001.

As always any advice greatly appreciated.

Ovaries removed 2001(at age 31)
Still have womb
Was on Prempak C 16 years until discontinued
Lots of messing around with hrt by uneducated GP all of 2018.  Felt so ill.
Finally saw menopause specialist Oct 2018 when she started me on Sandrena gel/oral utrogestan 100 micronised

Thanks in advance x

Your post seems to have got missed!

It does take a while (up to 6 months) to adjust to a new type of HRT so I would not be unduly concerned as yet. However I would mention the cramps at your review meeting as it's not very long to go. If you have any bleeding or spotting then do be sure to mention this. If you have never had any abnormal bleeding then likely all is well. It may be that your absorption of the progesterone is varying slightly due to differences in digestion? Please do raise any concerns with your consultant but it does not sound alarming in my (non-expert!) opinion! Sorry I can't be of more help.

Let us know how you get on.
