Update gynae visit today
« on: February 25, 2019, 06:51:51 PM »

Hiya ladies. I went to my appointment gynae today and thanks to all the lovely ladies on here who have shared their knowledge and  experience and replied to my questions I felt much more in control than last time. I thought you might like to know how I got on.

Eastrogen.  has gone up a negligible amount since my last test when it was 129 pmol. she would be happy for me to increase to 6 pumps but said it seems I'm not absorbing the gel so I can  try patch again. Estradot. But she would only give me 75. She said we never give 100 straight away and if I absorb it better I might not need 100.
Bit scared about dropping from 4 pumps to 75 but if I wasn't absorbing anyway I might as well try patch

Utrogestan.. She would not here of a break. She said i must take it continously. She offered me the coil which i refused. She is obsessed with womb cancer . She said I must stay on continuous because if I get a bleed on that it's more obvious something is wrong and to come back and they will see me straight away..

Scan from couple weeks ago showed the lining thin. Blood test showed progesterone was 1.8 nmol which is on the low side of of the  below 11 normal post meno. Strange as I was sure I must be progesterone heavy being as I was taking it continuously and wasnt absorbing E. Maybe  the lining has stayed thin because I've not been absorbing E.

Good news tho. I will now be joining the ladies on hurditys testosterone thread. . I didn't even ask for it. She said  they have no problem prescribing it after BSO. And she thinks I need it as my blood levels were next to nothing. Guess my adrenals didn't bother to  kick in after all.

So testogel 1 pump a week.

VA . Dear oh dear!!  She really doesn't get it. She says if we get your systemic levels up  you shouldn't need topical treatment. She has prescribed vagifem but would not give estriol for the outside as well even tho the consultant before told me to use it on the outside. . She got very animated and said "its too much its too much" we don't want you to get cancer. OMG. . Maybe its cos its gynae oncology. Maybe they are more cautious.

Anway she has told me to switch from the cream to vagifem ONCE a week. I thought if I switched over I would need to do the loading dose again but she said no. I think I'm right. Any thoughts ladies.?

Once a week is ridiculous anyway and she's only given me 12 doses, not enough to do the loading dose again.   I think I'm gonna have a fight on my hands. Especially as I fully intend to keep using the cream on the outside and will run out of that soon as well.

I argued the point and said that I want to prevent atrophy from getting worse and she mentioned the C word again. I think she's wrong about no loading dose. I think she's wrong about once a week and I think shes wrong about no cream outside and I told her that  but she would t budge. So I'm left with a measly 12 doses of vagifem and no more estriol. I need to sort it out but don't really know how.

At least she's referred me to the HRT specialist at the same clinic next time but that's 3 months away and my gp  is not going to change what she has said so I'm really worried about the VA. And getting what I need for it.

Best wishes to you all.x

There is no joined up thinking!

Do a re-load if you feel it necessary.  Some ladies find using 'sylc' or 'yes' products on the outer labia eases symptoms, do read our threads here.  Put the product into the search box.  Make notes  ;)

Why won't your regular GP prescribe VA treatment?

Do you feel listened to, your post seems up-beat  ;)

Thanks CLKD.
I think re load is necessary but not sure if I'm right.
It's just the minimum prescription shes given that's the prob. If I do a re load I will run out after 12 days which isn't re load and then from my experience with my gp  they will then say I'm asking for a repeat too soon. Also I hope she doesn't put in the letter that I cant have estriol for outside area.
My GP seems to want chapter and verse from a consultant before they prescribe anything HRT related. Probably to do with budgets or am I being cynical?!!!

Yes  i do feel more upbeat in that I felt more in control from increasing my own knowledge of HRT. Thanks to this forum. For example
She wanted to give me everol patch she said they are the same as estradot but I said they are bigger and have some different ingredients than estradot and she frowned and then looked it up and said to me " you are right". Not sure that always goes down well with docs CLKD  :)

BTW I was given some sachets of yes by nurse in the gynae clinic last time  just the lubricant one and found it a lovely product to use. I'm going to order some.

How you are keeping wellx

Some medics hate when their patients go in armed with information  ;D but my argument is that they are short of time: apparently : so any help should be accepted  ;)

Your GP is living in the dark ages  >:(

Seems mixed results the testosterone sounds good, but the vagifem? I just don't think they understand

I feel frustrated at their lack of knowledge

I'd go private but tbh I'm not even sure if that would help after my disastrous defo scan

I get so frustrated and confused

Me too Katy. The more I've thought about it the angrier I feel about the vagifem.
