Private HRT advice
« on: February 08, 2019, 08:02:38 PM »

Anyone with any info on London private HRT prices. Problems with Doctor prescribing and dont want to be dealing with having to fight against poorly informed GP for rest of my life.

Hi, I can recommend Mr Panay and also Dr Etienne Horner, I have seen both at NHS menopause clinic, but they can be seen privately. If you google them you will find their Harley Street addresses.

Someone said in a post yesterday that Dr Panay isn't taking anymore clients at the moment???  They had tried to book.  There is a list at the top of the site listing Professionals and you could find someone from the British Menopause Society website also.

Maybe someone will be along with some more recommends Riverrunsfree soon.

Have you tried asking GP to refer you to an NHS menopause clinic?

Look on the Specialists link at the top of the page - it tells you where all the specialists are all over the country, both Private and NHS (and often they'll be the same people running both). You have a right under the Patients' Charter to be referred to an NHS Menopause Clinic and there are several in London, so go to your GP and insist. Of course, the waiting time will be longer and you'll get a shorter appointment - up to you.

I suspect that the GP would have been reluctant if I had asked her directly. However she had offered to refer me to a urogynaecologist and she recommended a meno clinic referral. I am seeing someone at the Whittington Hospital in Archway. Where do you live?

Hi riversrunfree, I get my hrt prescribed from a private GP in London, he charges £55 per visit. I couldn't deal with the way the NHS GP was treating me.

Hi Riversrunfree (lovely name)

I too was looking for a private practice and was recommended Dr. Panay at 92 Harley Street.   He also practicses at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.  I tried to get a referral from my doctor in Cambridgeshire but was told that I would have to have a London address to get referred.  So I have decided to go private.    I am seeing Dr. Bose (who trained under Dr. Panay on 5th March).  Initial consultation £295, bloods averaging £35 for each test.  They usually test 4 for menopause and I am not sure what the prescriptions are.  If you look at the website for 92 Harley Street) you will see this.  I am having an awful time with depression - its is awful.  I feel like I am going mad at times.  My poor husband has had enough of it all as have I so I am hoping Dr. Bose will help me.  I too agree that in general GPs dont know half enough about menopause so that is why I have decided to go private.

Hope this helps.  Ill let the forum know how it goes.... I wish my appointment was next week as I am strugging....

Surely your GP is talking through his hat? I was referred to the Chelsea & Westminster and don't have a London address.

Hi Nightmare
How awful for you. Thankyou for all the info and I really hope your situation gets sorted soon. It is so awful when depression strikes due to hormones being very off. Such unnecessary suffering being caused by ill informed and under confident Gps for women in menopause.  We musn't tolerate just existing. There is light. It takes persistance. And support. Hope by the spring all this is behind you
