GP says Osetrogen won't help excessive sweats
« on: February 10, 2019, 07:22:59 PM »

Evening

I asked about changing utrogestan from oral to for vaginal to help my generalised sweats as i'd tried the oestrogen pump but didn't get on with the utogetsan tablets.  She told me that oestrogen is mainly for hot flushes and doesn't help generalised hyperhidrosis.

Yes I have a medical condition Hyperhidrosis so I take other meds for it.  But just thought I'd check in here as not a doctor I've seen before so not sure whether good advice or not but probably she's right

She didn't suggest anything  else to take instead of Utrogestan

Menopausal hot flushes and sweats are caused by low oestrogen but as hyperhidrosis isnt caused by this I suppose it wouldn't help. It must be a really uncomfortable condition to have so I hope you get some help soon.

Thanks Taz.  Yes hyperhidrosis is a really horrible condition.  Many people with FM and ME have it, so that's likely to be the cause - the GP said as much because those conditions muck about with your nervous system :( X

Hi

It's not really clear from your post what you might want help with.

Are you currently using oestrogen gel and taking Utrogestan orally?  If so and you get any side effects, just switch to using it vaginally and see if you prefer it that way.  It's the same tablet.  GP doesn't need to know.  They seem to go blank and look at us like rabbits in the headlights if we mention it to them.  Just push it up as far as you can.  I found using my pelvic muscles at the same time meant I could draw it up even further and then I didn't get any leakage onto the bed sheet.

I'm not taking any now. I was taking the Oestrogel Pump first to see if I had any bad effects and then introduced the Utrogestan about two weeks later and that had bad effect. I did ask the GP about using Utrogestan vaginally but would need an applicator. But as she didn't think HRT would help because it's another condition causing the excessive sweating then I didn't pursue it
