Advice please
« on: January 22, 2019, 02:42:25 PM »

I have changed from Femoston tablets to Evorel patches. I have been cutting the patches in half to see if a low dose was going to help me with the hot flushes and mood swings.  I've been taking it for approx 2 and a half weeks and my flushes are coming back (usually when I'm in bed). I also feel my mood has lowered and I'm foggy headed. Should I start to gradually increase the dose and by how much for how long?

I reckon you should really try to persevere with an increased dose for at least a month to see if any side effects or symptoms start levelling off.  It varies person to person but any changes in dose or regime can take a while to balance. That is why with any hrt treatment the thinking is that you need to persist with something for at least 3 months before a total change can occur.  If you flushes are back you need to increase the dose and wait for it to level purplebee.

Do you have periods?  Any other particular symptoms that are bothersome?

Some ladies find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary useful.

As oestrogen levels drop off so muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Also the body may become dry: inside and out  >:(  ::).  Do read our threads on vaginal atrophy - forewarned is forearmed  ;)
