Menopause and weight gain, help!
« on: January 12, 2019, 05:33:00 PM »

Just started HRT but being a little over weight I wanted to lose a bit. I have cut out alcohol and cut down my carbs. I excersise 3 times a week for about an hour but with 4 children I'm struggling to find more time and the weight is not budging. Has any one else had the same issue?

There's a lot about now about fasting.
It's supposed to be so good for you.
Regular fasting apparently repairs cells in the body, and is so good for the brain cells.
I read that some where last week.

Good luck 😉

Thanks. I shall try the fasting. It's good to know it's not just me!

I think I might be tempted to keep everything the same in terms of eating but just add in some walking. If you can. It's really hard to fast when you are looking after 4 children xxxx

It's hard for me to fast full stop.
If I don't eat I get headaches, my son says you'll get over them, but I'm not prepared to go through that when I get headaches from anything and everything anyway....
It would be even tougher if you've got little ones to look after as well.
You've got to have strong will power, which sadly, I haven't any at all.....lol
Good luck....xx

Hello Jammie and ladies,

I'm trying to lose weight but my real goal is to decrease cholesterol and triglycerides levels. It's hard to lose weight. Maybe it's easier to focus on one single goal that could lead to weight loss instead of losing weight. Stop drinking alcohol or increase exercise or exchange simple carbs for complex ones or wholemeal or... You get the picture.

According to this link posted by Autumn27, "on average, women gain 10 kg between 40-60 years, independently of menopause"  https://www.oxfordshireccg.nhs.uk/professional-resources/documents/clinical-guidelines/gynaecology/HRT-formulary-and-treatment-guidance.pdf?UNLID=3972751042017616429 That's 1.57 stone.

On a funny side note, maybe this lovely OB-GYN is right  ;D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE5g2D_HpRc
