Had my Ablation this morning
« on: January 11, 2019, 06:24:16 PM »

Hi all

Just home after my Ablation and Hysteroscopy this morning.
All went well little to no pain and no bleeding so far!
For those who don't know I opted for this over hysterectomy as my periods where horrible, even my HRT bleeds were bad.
I've now got to take utrogestan daily instead of the 15 days along with my estriol gel.
Question is, are there any other progesterone similar to utro as I get on ok with that but I do use it vaginally and figure that might become a bother for everyday use?
Thanks in advance 😊

Hi Mandyjw

The only thing I know is that there's another one called Provera.
That's it really, but I'm sure someone will come along soon who's more in the know than me.
Just to say WELL DONE, glad it went ok........

Forgot to say, I think provera is the same progesterone as what's in
Depo Provera. The contraception injection.
Don't know if you've ever heard of it or even had I.
I used to have that every 3months, many moons ago.......lol
Didn't have any side effects, what I can remember......
Have a google anyway.......good luck....xx,

Yes I've just read about it, that was very popular back in the day if I remember I've never used it but a lot of friends used to have the jab every few months and no periods x

It's from mare's urine?

Oh is it? So the same as Premarin? I didn't know that. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'll keep with my utrogestan for now until I go back for my check up and see what he says! Might even be able to get some testosterone gel out of him! 🤣 thanks all x

Provera is a synthetic progestin and nothing to do with Premarin (apart from being combined with it in Premique). It seems to be the other popular progesterone option to take with bio-identical oestrogen HRT.

Provera definitely is not made from mares urine.

As dangermouse has said it is a progesterone which is taken with bio-identical oestrogen HRT.
I personally use it with gel and much prefer it to Utrogestan but I don't use it on a continuous basis.

You could try it and see how you get on I would try using the lowest dose possible if you have to take it everyday from memory I think it comes in 2.5 or 5mcg for daily use.

Good luck
Love Lanzalover x
