Toys?
« on: January 06, 2019, 03:25:38 PM »

Not those kind of toys!!!
Home alone Sunday so thought I'd start a fun thread about childhood Xmas presents.
Now I don't want you to think I was deprived. My sister and I always had lots of wonderful Xmas pressies BUT.....

I always wanted Evil Knevil and never got it.

What toy did you want and didn't get.?

I had lots of toys, my favourite was a blue bike 🚲.
I was into clothes and teddy bears, so I had a lot of those.
I used to play with my brothers action men. (3 brothers, no sisters)
And we used to play cricket and football more than anything else.
A right Tom boy was I. 😁
I liked board games, and can remember playing a lot of monopoly.
Didn't win much though.......🤔😹

A walky-talky doll with long hair, I had seen one in the playground with long dark hair: mine arrived with tight blond curls, I can't explain the bitter disappointment that she wasn't what I actually envisaged, she's in my bedroom still.
Meccanno  or Lego - but Mum couldn't afford it  ::)

I had this Haunted House board game where you put a ball bearing down a chimney. Loved it. Seen it Used on ebay for £60! Also Spirograph. Bought my kids 'Great Game of Britain' 1970s version but they think it's boring!

We never had many toys, only my parents and nan bought for us and I always wanted (and never got) a Sindy doll

I have to add there was 4 of us kids and my parents worked their socks off for our home and every year my dad drove to Spain for a great family 2 week holiday x

Our toys lasted though.  Things were passed down through the cousins.  We didn't meet up often as we were spread World wide, so everything was new to each generation.  Dad stripped down toys, oiled and painted them - good as new.  I didn't mind.  Apparently my sister did  :-\.  I have a teddy that was my cousin's along with the walking doll.

That was what made C.mas so exciting, that stocking at the bottom of the bed.  I think Mum kept items on top of the wardrobe in their room but we weren't allowed in there and I didn't want to be disappointed by knowing what we had .......... whoops  :D
