Can HRT cause depression. Please help someone
« on: December 25, 2018, 09:11:26 AM »

On Femseven Conti 8 weeks. I've never been depressed or had horrible thoughts.  I suffer with anxiety. The other thing I've noticed is when I feel upset I don't have any tears  But I can laugh and smile. Or are these thoughts/feelings and worry all anxiety??

Hi Angel I have used Femseven Conti for over 9years and suffered none of what you mention, but I am not taking any other medication, I have soon got to start Everol Patches as Femseven no longer available, so if you feel Femseven are not working for you, maybe make GP appointment and try Everol patches or another regime..hope you feel better as the day goes on..sending you a hug..xx

Hi Angel1964
I've had what you describe, no tears even though I've felt like crying.
I think it's the feeling down, and the anxiety that causes it.
You feel upset, and depressed, and under normal circumstances we would cry,
and then it's a relief, but you just feel unnerved, does that make sense?
So you try to cry, but nothing comes?
It's horrible, because it seems to be locked in.
I think, maybe the Femseven is not suiting you.
Maybe try something else, OR, stick with it because you've only been on it for 8 weeks,
and they say 3/6 months until your body gets used to it.
You know yourself if you can carry on, if not, then you should change to another form of hrt.
Hope you feel better soon. Hope this helps.....x

I was on Femseven Conti for 3 months and felt I had constant PMT with feelings of anger all the time. My family noticed I'd changed . I also had alot of bleeding with this one so I stopped taking it and was back to my normal self after a week or so. As it's being discontinued I'd try another one as you're going to have to change anyway. It's a shame for the women that do well on this to have to then find another HRT that suits, I wonder why it's being discontinued.

Angel1964 as you are on a conti regime you're taking progesterone continuously. This doesn't suit everyone (me included) and can lead to the feelings you describe, for me it resulted in flat mood. As some of the others have said I don't think it's suiting you and would change as soon as you are able x

Hi Angel1964 I cant do a continuous regime and I am 57 in Jan and post meno for a bit.  It's the continuous progesterone which is usually the culprit.  I am now on a cycle regime, yes I bleed but at least I feel ok for most of the time, well way better than on continuous anyway. I have been on a cycle now for 4 months - sometimes it takes ages to settle that's why most of the ladies here say stick with it for at least 3 months unless you are feeling dangerously out of control mentally.

As it's being discontinued you may have to change soon anyway. x
