Hi, HRT & blood clots
« on: November 26, 2018, 05:54:54 AM »

Hello, I'm 51 & started with peri menopause about 5 years ago. I had an endometrial ablation 3 years ago which stopped my horrendously heavy periods but I am plagued by all the usual symptoms . I had HRT tablets then had a retinal vein occlusion after a few months, that's a blood clot in a retinal vein. The Hrt was stopped due to this in case it was the cause. I've read that patches are not a risk for clots & my GP wrote to a specialist who said it should be safe to try patches. Has anyone got experience of using HRT after a blood clot?

Maybe put 'blood clot' into the search box to see if any threads show, whilst waiting for someone more knowledgeable?

Hi Ang9305. Welcome! I'm not sure anyone has posted about this on here before. You are right in that blood clot is more likely with pill HRT rather than patches or gel. Have you been tested for the more common clotting disorders?

You'll find lots of support on here and we'll all help in any way we can.

Thank you, I had a few tests after the clot, everything was normal so the clot was put down to HRT
