You should be seen under the two week rule wait so do chase if you don't get an appointment/ call quite soon.
Sorry you have got the worry, but even if it is endometrial cancer that has a very good prognosis and you have gone to see you GP promptly, try to keep busy, that's what helped me when I had a breast lump scare.

thanks for reply, i am going to try and carry on being busy from tomorrow.  i have had spotting before  so was subscribed silk, but this is out of the blue for no reason bleeding and so far 2 days. my Gp said don't know how long for appt?
so i will til next week and give a ring if not heard.

i was trying not to go on any HRT and i have suffered the symptoms for years and now i wish i did go on them as it would have protected the womb i believe? anyone else not had any hrt?

Being on HRT doesnt protect the womb as such but it can reduce urogenital atrophy that can sometimes cause bleeding - however I don't think it sounds as though it is atrophy related in your case. How old are you? Do you have a partner? Do you still have sex? Did the bleeding start after having sex? When you had spotting before, why didn't the GP have this investigated?
Have you ever had a blood test to check whether you are truly post menopause? Many women experience erratic spotting and bleeding through the peri meno phase of the menopause and this is quite normal.
Hrt can often cause erratic bleeding if the womb lining builds up and if the progesterone hasn't kept the lining thin.
If you were prescribed SYLK vaginal moisturiser then this will only illeviate dryness but will not prevent atrophy. You probably need local oestrogen.
If you are 3 years without a period and getting bleeding from the uterus then you should get an appointment within 2 weeks and if you don't then you need to contact your GP to find out why.
You have done the right thing by going to the GP about this. You will hopefully get an appointment soon.
Try not to worry. Keep us posted.

Thanks dancing girl for reply.  i do have a partner and very rarely now:(  this bleeding happened out of the blue not after sex.  No bleed today so far.  my referral is marked as urgent and dept which i rang today told urgent is within 4 weeks. My Dr said 90 pertcent of cases are not cancer that are sent to have a scan.   Do you know if when i had my examination with dr that she could tell if bleeding was coming from the womb not the vagina? as she said no obvious cause she could see.

i can't remember if i told them i spotted or did i say just hurt is why they prescribed silk.   im 54

I'm sure when you see the specialist they will be able to tell you more.  The scan and investigations are routine these days, just in case they pick up the odd early stage cancer - as you've been told the risks are very low - it's better safe than sorry as if there should be anything of concern it can be treated more easily with a more positive outcome.
At 54, you could still be producing some oestrogen which would explain the odd spotting or bleeding.
Hope you get your appointment soon - peace of mind is good.
After all the investigations I would ask for some Vagifem to help with the vaginal dryness and use SYLK as well on a daily basis.  DG x

Just been through this myself and it worries you death.  6 weeks is urgent in my area.  That's just for consultation.  I had scan and hysteroscopy /biopsy.  The hysteroscopy did not produce conclusive result as not enough sample, so they wanted to repeat the biopsy.  I could not cope with another one so settling for another scan. It's been going on since mid July.  The scan is still 2 weeks away. The worry takes over.  My bleeding I think was caused by hrt.
I have va and been without anything all this time. The guidlines say 2 weeks but there is no chance where I live.  You have my sympathy, it's awful to go through.

Hello, an update. I've had my scan showed 5.6 lining so had to have a biopsy then she found a polyp which didn't notice on scan, had biopsy and removal of polyp there and then.  waiting for results now. also bit of atrophy noticed aswell.

any thoughts on this?

Pleased to hear the scan went ok. You said you were 3 years post meno? it's strange that your lining was still quite thick!!! If you have not been on hrt then you must still be producing some oestrogen for this lining to build? The polyp may have caused the bleeding/spotting.
I am not surprised that there is some atrophy so some local oestrogen ( eg Vagifem) and some intimate moisturiser would be a good idea. DG x

Hi DG,  yes i am 3 years since any bleeding no HRT.  That is what is worrying? if result ok, they would suggest just cream, but do i need anything to make the lining thin aswell?  another week to wait for results.

Ahhh! So you are on HRT?  The lining can sometimes build up on continuous HRT. Which hrt are you on? It may be that the progesterone isn't working well to keep the lining thin. It could be worth having a Mirena fitted as the progesterone part of HRT and you then only need oestrogen as gel or patch alongside. The Mirena is usually good at protecting the womb lining and preventing polyps and fibroids from developing.
Many women need local oestrogen treatment alongside systemic HRT to treat urogenital atrophy. Vagifem is a small oestrogen Pessary you insert in the vagina to restore that whole area and keep it healthy.  There are also oestrogen creams but these can be a bit messy to use.
Discuss your options once you have your results. DG x

Sorry - misunderstood your last post.
Then you are a bit of a mystery!!!
I doubt you need to worry about the lining. They might suggest a few days of progesterone if you get more snstantial bleeding but you really shouldn't need this. Sometimes the ovaries do have a final few gasps but this would be very unusual if 3 years into post menopause.
Local oestrogen might be a good idea though. DG x
