Painful breasts on Oestrogel
« on: October 13, 2018, 07:58:33 PM »

Hi I have been on Oestrogel for about 5 months and I have been suffering with lumpy painful breasts, like I used to before my period years ago.
As I'm on a continuous regime now I am not having a bleed only occasional spotting.

My specialist said to stick with the Oestrogel as it has really helped and my breasts should settle down.

However the last couple of days, while both are painful, one is swollen a little bigger than the other and a bit more painful.  I've never had one breast bigger than the other ever, so I just wondered if this was just part of settling into the new regime?

Any help would be great.  Thanks x

Hi  :)

Breast tenderness for me was a sign that my dose was a bit high and it would settle if I reduced the dose - is this something you have considered?

Yes sounds like you need to lower the dose a little as breast pain is a sign of too high oestrogen.

Hello  Jasmine3234.

I am also having breast issues on Oestrogel. I am post meno and using two and a half pumps of gel and Utrogestan 100mg vaginally. I've noticed that my nipples are tender which everyone says is due to too much oestrogen but confusingly I'm still having flushes, night sweats and jittery feelings which all suggest low oestrogen. Just to make things more awkward I've had some spotting and nausea as well. I reduced the pumps to two today and my nipples feel normal now but all the other symptoms persist.

I am seeing my meno consultant at the end of the month and I'll update the forum if I learn anything useful!

Wishing you well.

Thanks Kathleen

I am the same as in I need the higher dose to feel reasonably normal (after 12 months of hell trying other hrt.)

Therefore I feel I can put up with painful breasts and spotting over what I went through before.

The one thing that concerned me is one being more swollen than the other  :o

For me it was a sign of too much Estrogel on 2 pumps.....had a blood test done came back very high at 1245 pmol/l.

Reduced and the breast tenderness went away... kept all the other symptoms though !! had tried to preserver with the tenderness for 6 weeks but didn't subside
