HRT specialist in The Midlands
« on: September 10, 2018, 09:42:28 AM »

Hi everyone,

Anyone know of a good HRT specialist in the Midlands area?  I would be willing to travel further afield if I have to.    My GP is not knowledgable on HRT and only seems to want to warn me of the risks .   I have been using Oestrgoel and Utrogestan since i was 49 and I'm now 55.   I have been travelling to London to see a Gynae but i wonder if there are any alternatives closer to home. Its expensive for me as Gynae is quite expensive and travel costs keep increasing and I'm not working at the moment.   My GP seems happy to prescribe the Oestrogel and Utrogestan as long as its on instruction from a Gynae and will definatley not prescribe testosterone unless its on his instruction.   I have Osteopenia so i want to continue with hrt although it doesnt seem to be halting its progress.  GP wants to prescribe bisphosphonates which i'm unsure about.
Thank you for any help.

Dr Louise Newson has just opened her new clinic in Stratford.

Her web site is http://menopausedoctor.co.uk.

The web site is a bit confusing, she's just changed it.  But there's a link bottom right of the home page for "how to book a consultation" and that takes you to a page where you can fill in a contact form.  I did just this yesterday because I too go to London and it's expensive and takes all day.  I can drive to Stratford in just under an hour.
Plus, she sounds nice.  My current HRT specialist is so abrasive sometimes!

Thank you so much for this info.  I'm going to have a look at the website and maybe book a consult.

Your current specialist sounds like mine!

Do it sooner rather than later if you can.  The new clinic is already getting booked up and there are 3 doctors there!  I got offered an appointment in November, but then out of the blue got a cancellation for Friday.  I'm seeing Dr Newson herself over in her Solihull clinic.  I'm so pleased.
