Greasy Skin + Acne sign off ??
« on: October 16, 2018, 04:46:45 PM »

Hi All,

Currently on Estrogel and Progesterone cream...

Have notice skin on face is starting to become increasinly greasy and and getting some acne...

Other week it was fairy dry but soft ...

Any thoughts as to whether too much Estrogen or Prog could be causing the greasy skin ?

Big hugs

Yx

I always found that progesterone made my skin more spotty.
Where do you live?
It's not wise to use progesterone as  a cream as this is unlikely to protect your womb lining properly. There is a good bioidentical progesterone called Utrogestan that you should probably be on - do pop to your GP to get this prescribed. You can find the details under TREATMENTS on this site.
If you are using progesterone all the time it could also effect the skin more. DG x

Hi Dancinggirl

Thanks for the info...was thinking along the lines of prog and androgens

I live in in the UK, the progesterone cream i use is biodentical

I had a hysterectomy yrs ago..so no womb or ovaries...find I cannot take oestrogen on its own hence the cream as GP's don't think I need it...but specialists do.

Big hugs Yx

Ah! If you've had a hysterectomy then you don't need proper progesterone. Even the creams could have an effect on your skin I think.
Have you tried taking a break from the cream? DG x

Proper progesterone would be the licensed type of progesterone your get on prescription. The progesterone creams are not licensed so cannot be deemed entirely safe - although they are probably such a low dose there are few if any risks, if you've had a hysterectomy.  However, the creams would not be deemed safe as part of an HRT regime which requires womb lining protection.
It might be worth stopping the cream for a month to see what happens. DG x
