Hello
I'm 47 and discovered I was in menopause when trying concieve at age 27. I've been on HRT most of that time, tried patches, gels, and vaginal treatments, currently on pills.
My worst symptom now is a complete loss of libido which is causing huge issues in my relationship. What can I try next? Is there anything that might help?

Hello Doris47, welcome to the Forum.

I understand oral HRT is inclined to suppress libido. Is there any possibility you could switch back to transdermal and perhaps add in some testosterone? I don't know that much about oral HRT myself as I am an Oestrogel user, but I am sure someone on here with more knowledge will be along soon. You will find plenty of help and support here!

My libido improved with testosterone, HRT made no difference.

Mine is definitely linked to oestrogen.  Not enough oestrogen = zilch in the libido front.
Up the oestrogen and the first thing to return is a bit of desire and frisk!
Testosterone also helped, but I'm not on that at the moment.  I have never used pill form HRT though.  Always topical.

I found patches irritated my skin, so don't really want to try those again. Sandrena gel was good (is this still available? I preferred this to estrogel) but I was waiting too long for it to dry, which is why I switched.
I'm on femoston at the moment, the lower version.
What combination would you recommend to try first to get some feelings back?!

HRT has never made a difference to my libido or response. I would think that at your young age you do need testosterone.

I empathise with you. I too have lost any desire and had hoped some increased libido would result of taking transdermal HRT - it has helped lots of other symptoms over the last 2 years which I am grateful for! Is testosterone available through Nhs GP? If not how do you acquire it? I have read positive literature with regards to it helping increased libido.

Try your GP first. If she won't prescribe it ask to be referred to a meno clinic. Many GPs won't because there is no product licensed for women so they are responsible if anything goes wrong. Once you've seen a specialist you should be able to get it from your GP.

I hate to be the bearer of gloomy news but I've been on testosterone for three months and my libido is still dead in the water. I'm persevering but not wildly hopeful😞

A friend of mine uses Viagra as it's now available over the counter. Sounds weird as it's supposed to be for men but she says it's been amazing for her libido.
She went through the menopause early at 40 and struggled with lack of desire for years, but says the little blue pills work like magic. Her husband is like a new man 
However, I would absolutely check with a GP about contra-indicators with HRT before trying this route.
