Hi Jari, my situation isn't quite the same as yours but I thought I'd reply just to try and give some support. I had breast cancer two years ago, followed by the onset of horrendous menopausal symptoms due to chemotherapy. I haven't had any trouble getting HRT prescribed as my cancer was triple negative, so not hormonally driven, but my GP just had no knowledge or interest in the menopause whatsoever. She was happy to prescribe whatever the private specialist I paid for recommended, but refused to refer me to an NHS specialist. To cut a long story short I've finally had the sense to change GP, and found someone else in the same practice who is clued up and sympathetic and has referred me to a consultant gynaecologist. Change GPs - you have a right to appropriate treatment, and personally I think quality of life comes in way ahead of a small risk of breast cancer recurrence, who wants to live a long miserable life?
