What do I?
« on: August 14, 2018, 08:03:58 AM »

Have posted before but not sure where I should go from here.
Saw a specialist who said my high Carb/Sugar was affecting my HRT uptake.
so am on high dosage of Sandreen 1mg Gel 3 times a day and Progynova 2mg a day, which feels really good if I am on a strict protein and veg diet. Libido returns, mood lifts. Do get bleeds, which hadnt had for 3 years. SoI take Norestherione as progesterone but keep having breakthrough bleeds, so take 3 a day to stop the bleed then try to cut back to 1 a day but if I have any sugar the bleed starts again.
My GP says 3 Sandreena a day much too high so paying for private prescription as know if I cut down to his max of 1.5mg a day would not make any difference.
I have been on holiday so sugar/alocohol/cake/break all came to play!!!
Am I puttting it all down to diet, have put on a stone since February but that not totally down to the HRT, been stressed with death in the family, holidays and wanting to eat all the wrong things.
any comments/help/suggestins???

It'll be the high dose of oestrogen that will be causing the bleeding - not your diet.
If you really want to use such a high dose of oestrogen then having a Mirena fitted might be more appropriate.
Are you still peri menopause?
Have you had blood tests that show you are not absorbing the oestrogen? What symptoms are you trying to control? If you are still getting flushes on an average dose of gel then either you are not absorbing (so oestrogen levels are still low) or there is something else going on.  Have you had your thyroid function checked?
Too much sugar in the diet is not good but I have not heard of a connection with diet and oestrogen absorption??!!
Low or fluctuating blood sugar levels (which occur when eating lots of sugary things) can effect mood, so your stricter diet may well be stabilising you blood sugar levels and this could be why you feel better. When you go back to sugary things, you will get the highs and lows again.
However, it is still important to have some carbohydrates in the diet, even if it is very limited amounts - they are part of a good balanced diet and give good fibre for the gut.
Learning to deal with stress is another key aspect - do you do Mindfulness or other relaxation techniques?
BALANCED -  is the key word for everything - diet, hormones and life in general.  So find your ‘balance'.  DG x

Thank you Dancinggirl. Had thyroid checked and that was fine.
Had stopped period about 5 years ago whilst on pill so came off and then hot flushes etc started. Tried HRt for couple of years but symptoms never completely gone and never got that wow I feel great that so many people say. So 2016 came off HRT and tried all alternatives Homeopathy, magnet etc etc. Gave in and went to specialist in Jan. Have felt great at times when blood sugar stable and oestrogen being absorbed. Sadly i mess it up and crave sugary things and off I go again!!

Yes as you say when blood sugar stable and the oestrogen being absorbed then the only down side is I get the bleed, but feel great.
Do yoga but busy lifestyle makes stressful at times. i have large quantities of veg and fruit so plenty of healthy carbs/fibre.
Balanced is something I have never managed in any aspect of my life  ;D ;D
