Should I increase hrt
« on: August 02, 2018, 03:14:09 PM »

Afternoon Ladies.
I finally went to my doctors surgery today, asking about increasing my hrt.
I'm currently on my 7th month of femeston 1/10 .
The only side effects I really suffer from now are poor sleep and light headed ness.
I have stopped caffeine and alcohol. Try not to worry when I have a bad night. And can almost function on 5 / 6 hours broken sleep. Take a nytol the night before a work day, altho this doesn't improve the situation much.
I've had treatment by my chiropractor as ear nose and throat specialist said the dizziness came from my ear(crystals in ear canal) the dizziness went for almost 6 weeks but it's been back again this week.
So today, after being very tearful. Booked an apt.
She said maybe I should try a sleep app called “sleepio “
There is a cost for this and on reading I have done all the “sleep hygiene “ they suggest.
She has However given me femeston 2/10 and to give it a try when I finish the packet I'm on(3 more weeks) and drop down again if no improvement.
I know they don't have a magic wand!! But I find them useless and get more information on this site.
Just needed to off load. Desperately want my old life back, as I'm sure my dear husband would love that too, but he is so understanding, couldn't wish for any one better. Neither of us knows to ask next, been 17 months like this now ☹️☹️

Hi Gusgus,

It's fine to offload! I was reading your post and thinking what a shame it is that so many of us are finding the whole HRT business such a minefield - scared to try it in the first place, and scared and confused as to what to try if it needs adjustment. It adds so much more stress and worry to what is already an awful time. I'm wondering if there is any other medical condition where the patient them self has to fret, educate themselves etc etc and I can't think of any.

Anyway, sorry about the rant. I think if I were you, I would try the increased dose and see how you go - you are in the fortunate position that you know what you are taking just now is working quite well and as your doctor says you can easily revert back if need be. Your anxiety at rocking the boat is probably also a meno symptom. I am about to hopefully try HRT and I too am anxious about it but I am trying to keep thinking that if I don't try I won't know.

Good luck and keep posting to let us know how you're doing xx

Thank you miabella
It made me cry, that people take the time to reply to total strangers. Knowing I am not alone on this part of my life.
I spoke to my pharmacist, who said start a new week with the new packet. I think sometimes they are more clued up than GP's.
Good luck with your HRT and thanks again. 💕
