Is Everol Conti the same as Femoston 1:10?
« on: July 31, 2018, 05:03:51 PM »

Been to the docs and decided to go for Femoston 1/10 patches On phoning the docs to see if prescription had gone to the chemist he said he'd spoken to a colleague and the patches come off He said he would prescribe Everol Conti which is the same as Femoston 1/10 tablets but cheaper He also said to start the tablets on the first day of my period As I've just had one and I wanted to start something while I'm off work he then said to start before with the green tablets then start the white ones when my period starts O am more confused than ever! Any advice please? S x

Elleste Duet is not the same as Femoston.

If it's Elleste Duet 1mg then it has the same oestrogen content, but the progesterone is completely different.  Elleste Duet contains norethisterone and Femoston contains  a kinder progesterone.

The patch you would need is Femseven Sequi.

These ignorant GPs - give me strength!!!!! :steamed: :bang: :bang: :bang:
I'm afraid you need to take the information printed off from this site to show the GP and calmly explain about the different HRTs.
I find it really frightening that GPs are responsible for handing out prescriptions when they don't actually know about what they are prescribing.  DG x

Dancing Girl, I am getting more confused as to what to ask for myself Reading on here Femoston 1/10 seems my best first option, but can I demand docs give it to me? S x

Sammas - I think your GP has misunderstood things totally - this is why taking hard copies of the information helps so much.  Sadly we have to be so clued up about HRT ourselves to be able to get what we need and want.

Elleste is the cheapest HRT but the GP should not be prescribing based on price, they should be prescribing what is best for the patient.

You could try the Elleste ( it suits many women really well) as you may find you do fine with the progesterone in this.  If you find that the progesterone phase doesn't suit you then you should go back and insist on Femoston.

Keep us posted.  DG x

With the sequi patches you had the first half of the month using oestrogen only patches and then the second half using combined progesterone and oestrogen patches.
SO -  you can start the pills on the day you would normally put your first 'oestrogen only' patch on, after finishing the combined oestrogen with progesterone patch.
OR -  on the first day of your bleed.

It really isn't going to matter that much which day you start.
Hopefully the Elleste will suit you adn give you a predictable cycle with minimum side effects.

Good luck and keep us posted.  DG x

If you have been using the HRT patches all this time, then you would need to continue with the patches till the end of the cycle.  Just start after you have finished the full cycle of HRT patches.  The advantage of trying Elleste is that the progesterone in this HRT type is quite powerful so is more likely to control your cycle better - you will also be on a slightly lower dose of oestrogen which may also help.
IF you have stopped using the patches, then it is probably wise to wait till you get your next period and start the pills when the bleed starts. DG x

If you aren't on any hrt, then you should probably wait till your next period and then start. If you start now your own hormones may influence things and cause erratic bleeding.
See how it goes with the Elleste - it may work well for you. DG x
