Osteoporosis treatment
« on: July 29, 2018, 04:09:14 PM »

I just wondered if anyone is on Osteoporosis meds.

My my t-score result was -0.5 but was told in the report no risk of Osteoporosis when in fact it is supposed to be severe Osteoporosis. I have doubled checked if it was a mistake but the reply was OK, no risk. GP is probably clueless about the t-score and go with the physician's report that it's normal.  ::)

Any suggestion what to do?

Oh wow, you managed to improve your t-score. Congratulations! :)

At the moment, I am absorbing sunlight and also taking 4000IU vitamin D, more calcium intake e.g. dairy and started to take vitamin K2 (1 tab a day 100 microgram). I'm also considering weight bearing regular exercises. Men don't commonly experience a threat of Osteoporosis. So much for being a woman!! First it's the monthly cycle for decades then meno and Osteoporosis to contend with. :(

It's useful to hear your experience. thank you.

The last thing you want is Alendronic Acid.  They put my Mum on that and then left her on it for 15 years!  There is supposed to be a 5 year limit.  It's nasty stuff.  It stops old bone from being lost, but also stops new bone forming so you end up with chalk for bones!  She now has stress fractures in the bones of her feet, just from standing up and moving around.  At 83 she's a sparrow in weight, it's so unfair.  She loved to walk to the shops and back.  That stuff is poison.

She is now on the injection treatment that she has every 6 months.

This goes for many doctors.
They are slicing up brain when they don't really know what really happens.
This goes for medications too.
