Hello again ladies, back for more tales of my menopause saga I'm afraid :-\

Before I started HRT I had all the usual symptoms plus terrible right sided pain in my pelvis, sometimes felt like I had a bladder infection, just tender bruised feeling.

After scans and hysteroscopy I went on HRT.
I was originally on Evorel Sequi 50 but couldn't tolerate the progesterone part, so 4 weeks ago I had a Mirena and I've switched to Estradot.
For the first two weeks I felt ok but gradually my sweats have returned and now this week the pain.

Does this mean that the estrogen isn't being absorbed enough?? Do I have too much progesterone, although I don't seem to have the same problems with sore boobs etc as before?

Feeling fed up as the GP and meno specialist pushed for me to have he Mirena as they thought it the best option.

I know the new regime needs time to settle in but I feel like I'm going backwards!!

Any suggestions??

Helenmelon - it's early days yet. There is an initial hit of progesterone  with the Mirena and this should settle over the next few weeks. Your body needs to adjust but what dose of Estrodot patch are you using? You need at least the 50mg.
It might be worth trying Oestrogel as this allows you to experiment with dosage and can be better absorbed than patches. Be patient, I found the Mirena with Oestrogel the best hrt regime I ever tried and in few weeks you may find things are good. DG x

Thanks Dancinggirl,

It's Estradot 50, but I have added 1/2 of my old patch Evorel 50, just to see if it makes a difference. I changed to the Mirena because of the progesterone probs but also so I could perhaps have a larger
Dose of estrogen because some of my symptoms had returned.
I asked my GP about oestrogel but she said no patches are a better option because it's easier to get the right dose. I did wonder if cost was an issue though.

I will see my GP in another week or so to check my Mirena so will see what happens between now and then. I never realised there was an initial hit of progesterone, that explains a lot!

Thanks for the reply, it's so nice to get others input who have been there xx

As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax = aches and pains  >:(
