Well as expected they had the consultants letter saying that he appreciated testosterone is off licence but he was happy to prescribe it for me and they took that to the letter, private prescription ,so no they won't prescribe it on nhs for me,I said well what about the estring he's also recommended and gp said he's not clued up on menopause so will discuss with female partners and if they decide yes they'll leave a script at reception but he can't guarantee they'll agree to that.
I'm wasting my time consulting them about anything hrt because every descision is financially based obviously not patient based.
I guess the best thing I can do is buy my T when I'm in Spain again I'm not paying £108 a tube here and keep tryng to get whatever else I can on the nhs and just continue to see Mr Parsons who is excellent and is looking after me well.x

Hi Daisydot,

It's really just not on is it! I've looked at the vaginal treatments using the menu on the home page and it looks like the estring which lasts 3 months works out cheaper than vagifem depending on how many vagifem are used in a month of course. I wonder if they will let you have it after they've looked at the cost.

I wish these doctors could try a dose of VA so that they understand it's not just dryness it's extremely uncomfortable and causes so much distress.

I'm so frustrated for you  :steamed:

Omg daisydot it's a bloody nightmare isn't it,I can't believe they won't prescribe it for you. I'm dreading it,I'm sick of fighting for everything I need,it's like trying to get blood out of a stone.im going to keep my appointment tomorrow and sound her out. Unfortunately I don't go abroad anymore, due to anxiety, haven't been on holiday for 6years,so I won't be able to get cheap t if he prescribed me that, and I can't afford over £100 a tube, that's a fact xx

I'll bet he's first in line for viagra when he needs it.

Testosterone does so much more for us than help our libido. It can only be down to cost. Well I would gladly buy over the counter and I'm sure thousands more would too if only they dropped the price.

I'm sure it was £98 for two lots of Tostran on the private script,he said that would do me 3 months, then obviously I had the estring cost on top.total of £116 in boots but couldn't get it.
It's not the consultants fault it's not available to me on the nhs I in no way blame him it's the gps who can't or won't prescribe it when asked to do so by consultants.I hear so many versions of who's to blame the gps say they can't prescribe because it's off licence so what the heck are we supposed to do other than pay for it from wherever we can source it,they're creating a high priced market for this by doing this aren't they.why can one gp prescribe a consultants recommendation yet another can't,where's the reasoning.
I've just got back home again and they did authorise the estring plus my repeat request for the oestrogel so I spoke to pharmacist who is going to order them in,the lady dispenser said to me we do have the cheaper imported stuff but that's not what you get and I said to her what's that the oestrodose? She then held it up to show me and it was.now why would she say that if their exactly the same as others on here insist.I know they're not by the smell and the texture and the absorption levels.anyway I am gong to chill now and use my tongue medicine he gave me this morning it's be lovely to get rid of this before my holiday it's making me so cranky.xx

It's nothing more than a lottery and that's so unfair.

I'm pretty sure I won't get the testosterone but I'm so hoping I'll get everything else. I really hope the tongue medicine works and that you get on with the estring.

Remember to be careful if you happen to remove it and rinse as it becomes very slippery when wet. You don't want to take an eye out with it.

Fill your suitcase with testosterone on your lovely holiday then when you return to your gp perhaps emphasise all the positive effects it's had on your health.

My local pharmacy had to sign up to the distributor of my testosterone cream to be able to order it for my private prescription. I wonder if local pharmacies are more likely to be bothered to do that as it takes time and effort. They did it just for my prescription and were very helpful. The pharmacist is female and of an age to perhaps be menopausal herself which might have helped. It might be worth trying

That was really good of her Robin that's why I trust the pharmacists in Spain they are so much more on the ball.
I have a nice Indian man pharmacist here who is really accommodating I like him,he gets the oestrogel in special for me.he didn't scrutinise my reasons just said if that's what you want I'll do my best and he has done repeatedly .
